    Ive been having this problem with my Windows Live messenger. I already tried repairing it, but it won't work, I already tried with my firewall settings, and it won't work either, and also, I tried re installing msn, and it still doesn't fix, what can I do?

    Have you tried disabling firewall to see if it can get through without firewall on?

    Did this just start happening?

    Any changes that either happened or that you perhaps made to your computer around the time that the problem started; particularly any Software or Hardware that you installed or setup.

    Its been going on for a while... I already tried with firewall on AND off, and I haven't installed any hardware for a long time. What does the Host file thing mean?

    Do you get a particular error message or # when you try to open or sign on to MSN?

    See if this helps out

    If using xp
    -start, programs, accessories, command prompt
    - Type the following: netsh int tcp set global
    autotuninglevel=disabled

    - Press enter
    - Restart your computer”

    If using Vista:
    -Start, programs, accessories, Right click on Command Prompt and choose - Run as Admin
    - Type the following: netsh int tcp set global
    autotuninglevel=disabled

    - Press enter
    - Restart your computer”

    Sorry, don't know - you could try to uninstall and reinstall MSN to see if that would help
