*sigh* Don't you just love Windows? Lol

OK, here's an idea. Try making a copy of the administrator folder, its under the Users folder. For eg: C:\Users\Administrator.

Make a backup of the folder, like write it to cd or something.

Now take your computer to a store that specialises with computer data recovery and ask them to attempt to unlock your administrator account, if they can't get them to format and reinstall (hence why I said backup :)) vista.

    Hope this helps mate :)

Oh, as an after thought - when you get the problem fixed, create a new account with administrator privileges. Its not at all recommended to use the admin account for your personal data - oh and set and easier password to remember :) like your spouses middle name, or even your bank account number (its long and complicated and you can easily remember it)

    Regards,

Just to clear up a point here: it would be the same issue whether the forgotten admin password was on a Mac or a Linux box.

You can contact Microsoft. If you have a registered, legal copy of Vista and can prove the machine is yours, they will help.

While we are at this topic, you should make sure that your password is something you can remember including uppercase/letters/numbers. If you want to write it down then you can write it down with a small cipher/encrpytion you create yourself.

For example you replace a-1, b-2, etc...
