I have a 2000 grand cherokee with a 4.0. it takes for ever to shift out of 1st gear, the engine revs up to 3000rpm. Any ideas?

Try dropping and cleaning the pan, changing the filter, and refilling with ATF+4. Repeat this procedure every 30,000 miles.
