I live in California and I need to know how much the rent can be increased when renewing a lease. I do not live in a rent controlled area.

Take a look at your lease. If there aren't any terms stating the amount of an increase upon renewal and you don't live in a rent controlled area then the Landlord can ask for whatever they want. I would think though, upon reason.
