Weight loss is all about math. Calories. How many calories you intake and how many you burn.

Start a log of all you eat and drink, with an accounting of activities... and use a chart (like this for food and like this for activities) to see what the numbers actually come down to. That's where you have to start regardless of what diet or regime you plan to undertake.

I'm not sure if the treadmills here in Australia are different to the ones in the USA, but when walking briskly on the treadmill, my speed is around 6.2. When I have bursts of jogging, I put it up to around 8.5. 3.5 seems extremely slow, but like I said, they may be different.

If you are looking to lose weight, you will need to intensify your cardio exercise to raise your heart rate enough to start burning fat.

Drink 2.5-3 litres of water a day, and keep a balanced diet. I find eating smaller meals (including tonnes of salad and vegetables) every 2-3 hours keeps my metabolism on a high. Also, like Rick said, you need to burn more calories than you take in to lose weight.

Sunflower seeds are full of nutrition (and tasty), just be careful how many you have as they are very high in calories.

    Hope this helps!

Are you eating 3 times a day? This is very important for metabolism. If you are not, your body goes into starvation mode and holds on to every calorie because it does not know when it will get it's next meal.

You need to eat 3 small meals a day, and try to keep your tummy full the rest of the time with healthy foods like apples, for example.

Remember too that muscle weighs more than fat. So you could easily "gain" weight before you begin to lose.

As long as you are putting something into your body, you are doing fine.
