    So it really is racism?
Lewis Diuguid, Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist has it all figured out, the McCain campaign's use of the word socialism has nothing to do with Obama's plan to spread the wealth, mandatory health insurance, universal public service for children, etc. - it's a code word for black.

    Quote:

The "socialist" label that Sen. John McCain and his GOP presidential running mate Sarah Palin are trying to attach to Sen. Barack Obama actually has long and very ugly historical roots.

    J. Edgar Hoover, director of the FBI from 1924 to 1972, used the term liberally to describe African Americans who spent their lives fighting for equality.

Those freedom fighters included the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. who led the Civil Rights Movement; W.E.B. Du Bois, who in 1909 helped found the NAACP which is still the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization; Paul Robeson, a famous singer, actor and political activist who in the 1930s became involved in national and international movements for better labor relations, peace and racial justice; and A. Philip Randolph, who founded and was the longtime head of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters and a leading advocate for civil rights for African Americans.

McCain and Palin have simply reached back in history to use an old code word for black. It set whites apart from those deemed unAmerican and those who could not be trusted during the communism scare.

    Shame on McCain and Palin.
A show of hands please, how many of you out there understood socialism to mean "black?" Geez, enough of this racism nonsense...

It does not mean black. It means RED as in socialism and Communism. I don't think Stalin, Lenin, Marx, etc were black. They were red.

That must be the code stuff Ex was accusing us of today . If that offends we can always call Obama an Alinsky Marxist. That would be more accurate anyway.

I seem to recall Charles Rangel calling "tax cuts "code for racism also.

Of course it's racism! When 95% of people of African heritage vote for a man because of his African heritate, it is RACISM. When empty headed white people vote for a man because of his African heritage and the fact that they somehow feel guilty about slavery that ended over 150 years ago, that is RACISM.

I agree with Speech, enough already!

Don't worry they would much prefer a black president than a woman telling the men what to do anyway that's America

I hate how so many people are scrwing this all up by saying it is all racism. Whether people want to admit it race is an issue in this election. BUT that does not mean everything is racist!! You are always going to have the people that vote for or againts someone because of their color and or gender but not everyone or everything is like that. IMO

How very racist to even mention this, have you not been received your education on this.

We can not speak about past associates, about voting records and about his plans any negative material has to be racist, even if from another black person

    Agreed.

The left knows that the average American does not want socialism or communism, so to divert attention from Obama's "spread the wealth" schemes, the left screams racist anytime anyone disagrees with them.

Is it really always the political leftist screaminf racism? I honestly do not know. Isn't it a whole mess of people from media ( which many people say is mostly left) to other third party groups and organizations. I don't know anything anymore:(

No, I do not think it is racist to have to account for your past actions
Or your plans for this country's future.

(Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania – 10/21/08) - Philip J. Berg, Esquire, the Attorney who filed suit against Barack H. Obama challenging Senator Obama's lack of “qualifications” to serve as President of the United States, announced today that Obama and tbe DNC “ADMITTED”, by way of failure to timely respond to Requests for Admissions, all of the numerous specific requests in the Federal lawsuit. Obama is “NOT QUALIFIED” to be President and therefore Obama must immediately withdraw his candidacy for President and the DNC shall substitute a qualified candidate. The case is Berg v. Obama, No. 08-cv-04083.

Berg stated that he filed Requests for Admissions on September 15, 2008 with a response by way of answer or objection had to be served within thirty [30] days. No response to the Requests for Admissions was served by way of response or objection. Thus, all of the Admissions directed to Obama and the DNC are deemed “ADMITTED.” Therefore, Obama must immediately withdraw his candidacy for President.

    Hello:

Let me see, if you were a Republican, and you wanted to come up with code word for black, would welfare be a good word to use?? I think it'd be a pretty good code word. Everybody'd know who you were talking about without actually having to say black, wouldn't they?? As a matter of fact, you could just use the code word, and then when everybody accused you of racism, you could sound all innocent, like these people in this thread, couldn't you? Hell, you could even accuse the Democrats of racism.

Isn't code cool? But, as a Republican, you wouldn't use such code words would you? You're better than that... Bwa, ha ha ha.

Oh, yeah. On Tuesday, didn't Palin call Obamas middle class tax cut welfare for the middle class?? She sure enough did...

I get it, so when Clinton said in 2006 that he "had long been committed to welfare reform" he meant he had long been committed to "black" reform.
