I had a corian countertop, by accident I put a bottle of chemical jell (for cleaning paint) on top of counter, a bottle leak & caise a 2x2 damage spot. How do I repair it? I have extra cutting board for matching it to repair.

Have you tired sanding the effected area to see if its just a surface problem? To cut and inlay a repair should be done by certified fabricators, this will keep your warranty intact. I would contact whomever you purchased your tops from for a refferal. Good Luck!

You would not want to repair this yourself if it cannot be sanded out as Wags said.

I would take a razor and try and scrape off the glue. Then you can sand the surface with fine sandpaper to match the existing finish. Good Luck.

Betsylou, I agree with Ken Dolph. This is the type of damage that needs the service of a professional. It would be best to use a precision template technique, such as the Andreas Template System.

Hey Betsylou. Most chemical blemishes can be sanded off (with a sander, almost never by hand) If it is something like a bubbly, crusty acetone blemish then you will almost certainly need a professional to cut out the bad section and repair it.

It also depends on the color of the top as to whether I would recommend sanding on it yourself. If it is a dark color or an island or peninsula that is out in the open to window light you would definitely be better off not trying to sand it yourself unless you have the proper equipment and technique.

If it is a top that is off by itself and has walls around it so that sunlight does not accent the area you may be safe trying to sand on it the best that you can.

In any case, if you try to sand it yourself so that you can save yourself some money, take heart in knowing that you will not mess it up any worse than it already is. By that I mean, if you just sand it and it still is ugly or even uglier, it still isn't damaged any worse from a professional repair point of view.

I often tell people that if they want to try to sand their countertops themselves they can go ahead because it will not cost them any extra for me to sand it whether they tried first or not.
