Hi,I've had a new tank for xmas,it came with filter water treatments,decortive stone,food.but no air pump. Do I need an air pump?? I've four fish two black bug eyed fish baby's.one gold fish big,one bug eyed black fish.
Iam worryed they don't have enough air the tanks is 37ltr.
Ive done a parctial water change today which is recommended to do every 3 days for the first 2 weeks,but the water is also now going clowdy? fish seem healthy,eating well.
Will an air pump be a good idea?? :confused:

I'm ducking out from this thread. Reason: I live within 5 miles of the biggest pet/fish store in the world. Its in Lancaster Pa centerville store name " That Fish Place" I hope it works out for you. Over many years of owning many different species of fish I get many different opinions. It is enjoyable to walk through thousands of square feet of salt and fresh fish live rocks etc. I have many times cloudy water in a 125 gal aquarium and it wasn't new and established for many years. A good filter is top mount penguin filter with a Bio wheel to keep the balances better. Good luck.

Yes, an air pump and air stone will put oxygen in the water for your fish.

The cloudy water is due to an uncycled aquarium.
It is a mix of high toxin levels along with beneficial bacteria blooms.
It is often referred to as, new tank syndrome.

There are different reasons an aquarium will cloud up. From you description above, it sounds
Like a classic case of new tank syndrome.

Continue to do the partial water changes. This will help keep the toxin levels low while the tank cycles.

If the toxin levels get to high it will stress the fish and cause disease outbreaks.
Buying a water test kit would help you track the progress of the cycle which can take up to 4 to 6 weeks to complete.
