Sudor vent for washer/sing venting in basement
My washer's drain stack and laundry sink vent through an unused chimney flue, which I understand is against code. Can I cut the vent pipe and install a Studor vent with cleaning access instead? I live in Maryland.

    Hello

I can't speak to Maryland code. Call your local plumbing inspector and ask him the question. My guess is that as long as the studor vent is "readily accessible" for future swap out you can proceed to install the vent. If the studor vent is not allowed in Maryland then I would just leave the vent in the unused chimney unless someone absolutely requires you to swap it out.

Did you do the install? I would leave it until some duly authorized inspector makes you fix it, and tells you what is acceptable according to local code.

It could become a problem if you sell the house and it is inspected.
