Hi knowledgeable people! :)

How do I change the bearings on a Hotpoint 1000 plus 9534 washing machine? I know it's an old model but I'm sure it still has some life in it yet! Does the drum have to come out and if so, how is that done? :confused:

I can tell you that on a speed queen, the bearing is like the heart of the machine and everything comes out. The whole module, the drum, the agitaor, the shaft. Also when a bearing is replaced you have to also use a seal kit.

I would not tackle this myself and would choose to call a repair tech IF the rest of the machine is in good shape.
You can most likely get info on how to change this part from the company if you choose to.

What bearings are you referring to? If it's that old, the only bearings are encased in the transmission and the motor (two separate parts). Are you hearing an odd noise? Most of the time, it's not a bearing, it's the clutch. If the clutch linings are bad, that noise is mostly predominate when the machine begins to spin, but could be noisey during agitate, especially on a slow speed agitate setting. If the noise is not selective to machine function (noisey all the time) it may be a bad drain/circulate pump. I might replace a pump, but not anything else.

I have the same sort of question -

I'm going to try and change the bearing - I have the fist Nut off the shaft - next is the pully wheel. Does the Pully wheel slide off or screw off ?

After that what's next ? Anything else I should look out for ?
