    1. Since my visa status changed from F1 to H1 on oct 23rd 2006, what status should I file the taxes as & which form should I use? Till now I have used 1040nr ez!

FYI : I am frm India, I have not left US from summer 2003 till Dec 2006 & returned back in Jan 2007. I arrived in US initialy in Aug 2001. I am single & no dependent, Renting my own apartment in NJ & working in NJ.

    2. How much fedral exemptions & what kind of deductions can I take?

    3. How much state exemptions & what kind of deductions can I take?

    1) Your F-1 exemption expired on 31 Dec 2005. File as a resident alien for 2006 (form 1040EZ probably).

    2) You will get a $3,300 personal exemption and $5,150 standard deduction. You can also claim education credits.

    3) Depends on the state.
