Someone emailed my a .ttf font that I need to use. I copy the file into Windows\fonts and yet it never shows up in my list of fonts in Word. What am I doing wrong?

I, myself, wish that just doing a "copy and paste" a new font into the Fonts folder would work. My wife is always getting new fonts for her graphics/images. Unfortunately, it won't work... they have to be installed.
One way is to go to Control Panel, and open up Fonts. Then at the top of that window, click on File, then Install New Font.
Choose the path or folder to the font, click on the Font to install, then click on OK.

Thanks for the quick reply Fred. Your method is probably is the better one than my copy/paste. The copy/paste worked but with a caveat - the font showed up in Photoshop right away but it took a good 10 minutes for it to show up in my list of fonts in Word.

Can't find the "File" :'(
