    Live Scan
    I have a question:

My husband committed credit card fraud 15 years ago in another state. He plead out (never went to trial- no jail time). It's a federal conviction.

We live in California and he is looking for a new job. He's been in finance (research side).

    1) If he does a Live scan search in Los Angeles, and checks the FBI box, would his fingerprints show up? Does the FBI search only search California records or is it nationwide? (I understand that the FBI only has access to federal convictions- do they have to disclose if it's been 15 years)

    2) I understand that Lifescan is pass or fail. So even if the prints show up, as it's been 15 years, how do they report that, People are saying that in California they can only go back 7 years - or 10 years.

His job does not require being anywhere near money, no licenses. Just plain equity research.

    Thanks for your help

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on another thread. This can lead to confusion. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

His fingerprints would show as a match to the federal database. He was convicted of a crime.

So he should be upfront with employers and tell them about the conviction, but point out it was knocked down, he served no jail time and he has not committed a crime since.
