For my final year project in mechanical engineering I propose to design and build an apparatus consisting of a driven piston/cylinder and incorporate sensors to measure pressure and temperature against crank angle. I don't think I would have any problem with the mechanical side of the project, the problem is I want to be able to log the results to a computer and show the results as a graph. What sort of tempeture , pressure sensors are needed ? Do I need a data logger ? What sort of software is required and how do I detect and measure crank angle ?
