Considering Smith is not a normal Ghana name.
Considering, Ghana is the number one center for dating scams.
Considering there are large companies employing people to do email scams in bulk.

There may or may not be a real person, sometimes a real person will even do the scam to get money.

If they asked for money for passport and visa ( does not cost over 320 US dollars) if they asked for money for physical ( there is none) if they asked for money to be in the bank, ( no requirement)
    Then yes you were scamed

    Attention!

I've been contacted by "Sandra Smith" from a dating site, claiming to live in Brussels Belgium, but resiting in Nigeria. She claims to be a business woman and bla bla bla in the end she falls in love with you and wants to come asap to your place, BUT (oh surprise!) she hasn't got enough money to pay for her ticket
For the authorities asked for extra taxes so please can YOU send me 1.500 euro dear? You are warned she's been working under that name since 2008, that's what I found after researching on the internet.
