    Shut down
In my windows98 SE system, it is not showing "safe to shut down window" after I install some software or hardware to restart the computer or shut down the computer. It is struck at processing shut down. Please reply.

I only found one hit in searching the web for that exact message:

If you have an AOpen video card, it may do the trick for you.

I hope this helps. If not, I'm sure someone more expert than me will be along shortly :D

There is a long history of shut down problems with Windows, especially Win 98. If you gop to support.microsoft.com and search on Shutdown problems you will find several troubleshooting articles.

    Safe to shutdown
    Hi,
Have you ran scandisk and scanreg /fix from the C:> prompt?
Have you ran Scandisk and Defrag in Safe Mode?
If you haven't, the above might fix the problem.
    Best wishes,
    fredg
