Canadian Parents - Tory Child Care Plan
To all Canadian parents out there with children under 6, read this:

    http://www.canada.com/windsorstar/ne...003f21&k=58998

    Quote:

Parents risk losing out on child benefit

Only days before the program starts July 1, parents of an estimated 124,000 children have not applied for the $100-a-month cheques.

Moreover, outside of a notice on a government website, Ottawa appears to have made little effort to let thousands of Canadian families know they won't get the cheques if they don't apply.
Meaning, you have to submit some type of application, if you haven't already.

    Thanks for the heads up.
This is the link they are referring to I think: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pbg/tf/rc66/README.html

Thanks Captain Forest. Actually my husband and I have not applied because someone told us we likely would not qualify because of our income. We don't qualify for the Child Tax Credit or the GST Credit for the same reason.

I went to the website you provided and tried to find out if there was an income limit for receiving this money, but it wasn't very clear. Would you know off-hand if this is just for lower income families or not? Thanks again.

From what I have heard, every parent gets this, regardless of their income level.

That is why the Tories were criticized, as people said that this helped the rich more than the poor.

Yes that is correct. This is available to EVERYONE with children under the age of six, REGARDLESS of income. Make sure you apply.
