Go to the IRS website and print out a blank Schedule C for reporting income for self-employed. It will give you a list of items to deduct. Be sure to include:Quote:

I stand corrected. Mileage back and forth to your shop is not deductible. Only if you go to different places to work. Or work out of your home. But any other time you use your business for work other than commuting is deductible. I needed to clarify that.

If your home office is NOT your main place of work, then you cannot claim the mileage.
If your home office IS your main place to work, then you CAN claim the mileage.

Hey, I'm a realtor and I receive a 1099 misc and am considered a sub contractor for my broker, keller williams.
Can I write off one vacation per year if I use it as a time to do my business planning for the year and record my plans in a journal/log? I've heard that people who are incorporated can do this, and although I am not incorporated, I run my business very similarly.

That's a stretch for a deduction. Any IRS auditor would argue that the business planning can just easily be done at home or in your office; there is NO need to go on a vacation.
