Office 2007 asks for Office 2000 installation discs
    Hi all.

I used to run Office 2000 but uninstalled it and installed Office 2007.

When I run the Spell Checker it does not function. When I try to run it,
The computer tries to install it and then asks for the Office 2000
    Installation disks.

I insert the Office 2000 disks but then it then says it can't find the MSI
    File.

I have downloaded and installed the following but there is no difference

Latest version of the MSI file
    Office 2007 Service Pack 1
    Word 2007 update (KB934173)
    Microsoft Installer Cleaner Utility

I have scanned my hard disk for any remaining office 2000 files. In
Add/Remove programs there is a option showing Microsoft Office 2000 but no
    Remove option.

I have uninstalled Office 2000 and 2007 several times and ran several
    Registry cleaners.

I have also noticed when I enter several websites, it asks for the Office
    2000 installation disks.

Any ideas anyone will be most gratefully appreciated.

    Kind Regards

Look in the folder MSOcache (Microsoft Office Cache)
When you install an office product the installation files are put in this folder unless during the insatll you chose not to cache the files - and as you uninstalled the install files may have been uninstalled also

    Try adding components.
It may be the same for Office 2007, but in Office 2003, if you go to add/remove programs and click remove, it brings up a menu to add/remove additional components. Click the custom install and make sure the spell checking functions are all enabled.

This link below is a program that will spell check in any document you are in, notepad, wordpad, email, on web etc... You put cursor in box you are typing in and hit F2 and it spells checks

Thanks Seahawk. I checked to see that the spell checker had been installed and it had so this wasn't the cause of the issue.
