A girl I know and really like at work recently confided in me her sexual preference. I couldn't hear everything she whispered to me, but I know she has a partner (as in girlfriend) who she exchanged gifts with on Valentine's Day. I found out the day after that when I gave her a card and wrote her a poem because I know she likes poetry. Besides asking, how do I found out if she's lesbian or bisexual? If she's lesbian, end of story, but I'd still like to be friends with her because I'm not phobic or judgemental. If she's bisexual, maybe I might have a chance in the future if she has a breakup?

If you like someone you tell them so directly, and leave it to them how they respond. If you misunderstood, or didn't hear what she whispered to you, then tell her that. What's so hard about asking her yourself if she is lesbian or bi? How old are you both? Waiting for a break up is an exercise in futility, and dishonest being a friend until that happens so YOU can have a chance. She is in a relationship so respect that, and look around for someone who is available for what you want.

I would go with asking her, and not stoop to any other way of finding out what you want to know. Why would you not just ask her?
