    DVD RW is not working!
    I have Sony Vaio VPCCW16FA

    My problem:
When I tried to insert a DVD (movie) the computer didn't recognize it.
It does a sound like its going to work for like 2 seconds. And then it stop.
And when I go to MY COMPUTER there is no sign of anything. Also the little orange light in the Dvd door slide thingy is off.

I tried to troubleshoot and it says that the Drive is working perfectly.
    I tried checking for virus.
I installed a program that scans my Drive to check for any errors.
There is no problem what so ever.

I don't understand. It used to work just fine.
The only chaanges I made since was deleting programs that I thought I didn't need.
Though I used to play my DVDs on Windows Media Player. And I didn't delete that one.

    Hi.

My name is Deepa and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. First of all, I would suggest you to update the firmware of CD-DVD drive from manufacture's website. The second thing that I would suggest you to do is some changes in registry settings. Following are the steps to delete the upper filter and lower filter which are the settings of CD-DVD drive:-
    1. Click the Start button, click Run.
    2. In the Open box, type Regedit, and then click OK.
    3. Click the plus sign (+) next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
    4. Click the plus sign (+) next to SYSTEM.
    5. Click the plus sign (+) next to Current Control Set.
    6. Click the plus sign (+) next to Control.
    7. Click the plus sign (+) next to Class.
    8. Click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
    9. On the right side of the window, click Upper Filters.
    10. Click Edit on the menu bar.
    11. Click Delete, and then click OK.
    12. On the right side of the window, click Lower Filters.
    13. Click Edit on the menu bar.
    14. Click Delete, and then click OK.
    15. Click File, and then click Exit.
    16. Restart the computer normally.

These steps would be applicable for all windows operating system (XP,Vista and 7).
Please check with multiple numbers of CDs and DVDs
    For further assistance please reply.

    Thanks and Regards
