My wife was mad because I left the computer on, so she pulled the power cord from the back. Now the computer will not turn on at all, no lights, no fans, nothing. Any ideas? I am afraid that it is broke for good!

Plug power cord back in, Seriously, after that, make sure not pulled from socket or extension, verify outlet OK. If it is a Laptop, verify you have voltage at end of cord.
One time, someone set laptop out for trash, I had to pick it up, wouldn't power up, power supply led would lite, had no voltage at end of cord, went to radioshack for replacement
End, works perfect. Doing nothing(no power), is usually? Easy troubleshoot.

I put the power cord in and out a few times. Monitor, speakers, etc come on so the power supply is fine, tried different sockets too. Also, grabbed a power cord from my neighbor but same deal, no lights, no fans, nada.

You may like to try the computer types support site. If it is a laptop you may try and replace the battery or at least take it out then put it back in. If that doesn't work, you may like to try and buy a new battery.

You're going to have to open your PC and make sure all the correct cables are plugged into your motherboard. If you don't know what you are doing, take your computer to a specialist and let them have a look at it. If you don't know what your doing, its possible that you could blow the motherboard.

Here is something you CAN try by yourself:

Open up your computer case and have a peak inside. Make sure that your computer is plugged into the wall as you want to see if there is power. Depending on your motherboard you should have a little light somewhere on the board itself. It is usually a little LED light and its green and its bright and you can't miss it lol :)

However, if you found the LED and its NOT on, its possible that you have motherboard issues ie: it could be blown.

It either event, take your PC in.

Sabbz. Yep there is a green LED lit up on the inside of the tower (that is what I call it, not sure if that is the technical term). Someone mentioned to me last night that it sounds like the power supply, the transformer thing that the power cord plugs into, so sounds like it will need to be taken it. Thanks!

I had the same problem on a couple of computers. Often it can be simply solved by doing the following.

- Turn off the computer and unplug it
- Turn on the On/Off switch for a few moments
- Turn it off
- Plug it back in
- Turn the switch on.

No this is not hocus-pocus. Sometimes the motherboard goes into a strange state where it thinks that it is supposed to be off. What this does is that when you turn it on while unplugged, is that it drains the capacitors that are helping to hold the information in memory. When you drain all the power, the memory goes away that tells the motherboard to stay off. When it turn it back on, hopefully things are back to normal.

Rarely would a power supply or motherboard die because the plug was pulled. Typically two things may happen. One or more boards may slip out of their proper seating and checking them will solve this, or the problem that I have noted above.

Tj3, that totally worked. I was amazed. To be honest, I was like "yeah, right, gimme a break". I had everything unplugged, pushed in the button for about a minute, plugged the power cord back in. It made a strange beeping sound and kicked right on. I could not believe it. I felt like a geek "fonz"
