    Www.classicboxset.com - are they legit?
Has anybody used the website DVD's, DVD Box Sets, DVD Series, DVD Complete Seasons, ClassicBoxSets.com - Home before? Although they sell a bit of tennis & golf equipment, they specialise in selling Chinese import DVD boxsets of shows such as South Park, Simpsons, Friends, etc.
To buy a complete South Park & Friends box set from them works out at around £120, not ridiculously cheap but a lot cheaper than over here. I was just wondering if they are legitimate and can be trusted? I actually got the site off the bottom of an Ebay page when scrolling through DVD boxsets on Ebay.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers
    Lee

Hmmmm... "All of our DVDs are officially autorized chinese releases."
I would have my doubts that they are NOT pirated. Doing a web search on them I notice that other sites reference them so they must have had positive experiences.

Whether they sell pirate copies or not, I am more concerned to be honest on whether I will get the products I order.
    Do you think they're trustworthy?

I would be concerned, if they would pirate copies, that makes them dishonest just to start with, if they would cheat and steal from the movie companies, who have tons of lawyers, why not from common person who can't do jack.

Hehe... and I have a "Rolex" that my wife bought me while she was in China... mostly as a joke because she knew it was a fake... a really good fake but a fake none-the-less.

But you have to give the guys doing this points for diversification... not only do they sell pirated movies and sports jerseys but they also sell whipped cream products! I don't want to know what truck those fell off... :)

I am also interested in this company, and dvdallstar. I have heard that there are problems with their DVDS from Asia working properly but I can't verify it. I asked 2 of my credit card companies if I could file a dispute if I had a problem with their product. They both said yes. One said they would be able to get my money back no problem. The other said that it would be difficult because the laws are different overseas. I was told by 1 credit card that they have a lot of ongoing disputes with classicboxset. They told me they had no info on dvdallstar.com. If you look at their sites they sell the same products. Some are priced different.

Dvdallstar answered all my emails. Classic didn't. Classic has a toll free number but they never answer, I keep getting the same recording.

I was told if I could afford to lose the $ if the product doesn't work take the chance, but pay by credit card, where you might get something back if there are probs.

These guys are not legit. The DVD's are low quality copies. I ordered the Sopranos from them & have had problems with many of the disks. (I was lucky, I actually got my order. Many others have not received orders.) 2 months later, I am still waiting to get replacements, that are obviously going to be junk. Their customer service is a joke. Stay away & don't waste your $$.

I don’t believe the company is a scam – I ordered over 300 UK pounds worth of stuff and it arrived in 3 weeks. I believe these issues are either with the Christmas post or customs.

I received my order no problem. The wait for shipping was worth the price.

Pirated copies, especially from Chinese vendors are frequently not formatted for use here stateside. If it was my hard earned dollars, I'd keep shopping.

***EDIT*** Major error on my part!! I meant to DISagree w/ the dog regarding his transaction!

I odered from this company at the end of Nov and my order arrived yesterday. Apart from the long delivery time, the item was wrapped in brown paper only which meant it arrived battered as it had come from China! The item was a suitcase holding DVDs (not the item I ordered! - the handle was completely broken on one side, the box had scratches all over it and was dusty! Inside the box, the DVDs were just enclosed in plastic wrappers and not in the proper box they are supposed to be in. These wrappers were also ripped!

As this was supposed to be a xmas present I couldn't wait another month for a replacement to arrive so I ordered it from Amazon and requested a refund from classicboxset. They refuse to give me a refund and will send me another DVD set, requesting I send them the damaged set back at my expense. This has turned out to be the most expensive DVD set I have ever purchased! They have also threatened that if I don't send them the DVDs immediately they will charge me for 2 sets! The cheek! I've waited over a bloody month for the order to arrive from them! I am willing to bet the next set also arrives damaged if they are just using brown paper to wrap an item from China.

My next step is to try Paypal but I'm not holding my breath.

    DON'T ORDER FROM THESE COWBOYS!

I got my DVD's too in about 3 weeks. I had problems playing a couple of them & need them replaced. I have been waiting since the beginning of November. They just sent out a mass email, explaining why they are having delays during the x-mas rush etc, w/ hundreds of customer names on it. After contacting the other names on the e-mail, I have gotten dozens of responses from people who had problems getting & playing their DVDs. Furthermore, the email they sent was only a small percentage of their customer base. If you have a problem playing these things(which are copies) you are going to be stuck.
These guys need to be stopped from scamming others. If you have their address here or in the UK, please let me know.

They sure did! A fine example of the customer service they provide. My name was on the 1st one they sent out. I am guessing that they sent out up to 10 more emails with hundreds if not thousands of names...

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME. I did receive my order, but a warning bell went off when there was no return address on the package! I don't know about all of their dvds, but the ones I got were copies and the quality was very poor. I wish I had gone with my gut feeling when I first found their web site. Hope this helps with your decision!

That price is very high, it should look, feel and taste like the real deal for that price. I go to the Philippines and my friends go to Thailand all the time and we pick up movies for a couple of dollars and there are 12 movies on one dual layer DVD with a nice cover but not a box set, but still very nice for the price, they are Chinese also.

The US can only pressure China to stop pirating, they will not do it, Japan took many years to stop back in the 80's when I use to buy LaserDisc burned to VHS movies for $5 each. Today I can buy mint second hand LaserDiscs for about $5 each or just download movies from the internet for free at the rate of 100 movies a month, but of course I cannot say where on this site, sorry.

Let me point out that DVDs are regionized. This means that DVD players have to be set to a region. They cannot play disks for another region (though there are some regionless or universal players).

DVD regions is not the issue with these guys... The issue is that they sell junk and are screwing people left & right!

The DVD can also be Region Free as many Chinese versions are, but sometimes layer 2 of a dual layer DVD will not play and sometimes the spoken words are not in English and may actually change language in the middle of a movie.

If you have not watched Mr & Mrs Smith in French, you do not know what you are missing.
