Ever since I came back from splish splash on July 28th my ears have been acting weird. I had ear aches, headaches, ringing, and I felt like a loss some of my hearing. I had always had issues with my ears but it was never like this before. I have went to ent and doctors, they say they can't find anything wrong, my ears look normal, and there is no water inside them. I also did a hearing test in a bulletproof room and it is said that I passed with normal hearing. I still felt the same and the doctors think that its because I have a dog and I found out that I was allergic to her recently so they gave me pills. I have been taking these pills for about two weeks now and the headaches have gone away, the ear aches and ringing have gone away a bit, but the hearing is still the same. I am scheduled to see an allergist now. I don't know what is wrong with me. I am going under a lot of stress, I am only 14 and I just started high school. Hearing is a big essential part of my life so can someone please tell me if I experienced hearing loss or something worse?

This is just a guess, but it should have been noticed by the ENT specialist: your eustacian tubes are clogged, perhaps at the throat end, from either the water or the allergies or both.

Generally you would take a decongestant, or an anti-histamine, to get the mucous out of your ear tube.
You may end up taking the latter anyway if you really are allergic to something. You can try any OTC product but of course since you are a minor you should talk this over with a parent.
And keep in mind that it's just a suggestion. Even anxiety can make it seem like you can't hear well.

Okay. I've been putting hot compress on my ears. I don't know if it suppose to make you feel better. I read it online. I just don't want to lose hearing but no one can see what I have. I've been having a lot of anxiety, but I try not to think about it.

Does anybody know if an ent is capable to see if you eustachian tubes are clogged? I have had clicking in my ears for very long, I just got headaches, pain aches, and feel like I'm losing my hearing. The ent says I have nothing? But can he see if my eustachian tubes are clogged?

I recently have seen the ent and try say that nothing was wrong with my ears. And I also took a hearing test an I seemed to past. I just want to know if an MRI scan can probably show something that an ent can't see?

What has been the problem with your hearing? How old are you?

It feel like my hearing has decreased and I am 14years old.

Do you listen to loud music on headphones or with ear buds?

Tell me more about the hearing test. Was it with an audiologist? Did you tell the person doing the test that you have noticed a decrease in the volume?

I stopped doing that after I discovered this problem. I also am allergic to my dog but I've been taking medication for that and it hasn't improved much.

Yes we discussed the result right after I took the hearing test in a bullet proof room. My mom was there and she said I can hear in normal range.

I listened to what the audiologist had to say I had told her everything that I was experiencing before I took the test. She said that maybe whatever I felt was temporary, but I've been feeling this way for over 3 months so far.

Then it is time for you to speak up. Tell your mom about what you believe is a hearing loss. Or call that audiologist and talk with him/her about this. Ask if an MRI or some other test would help to nail down if there really is loss and what is causing it. Your ear drum may have changed because of the loud music. Something might be going on deeper inside your ear. Keep me informed about how this goes.

I thought an ent was able to see if anything happened to my eardrum. If the MRI scan is completely clear what happens next?

I have no idea what a doctor would order. He'd ask you questions about all sorts of things, and would go from there. Maybe more time is needed to regain any hearing you've lost. Maybe nothing can be done. A doctor would know what to do.

But is a MRI really necessary even though I have went to several ent that say I have nothing wrong and pass my hearing test? I wouldn't like to waste my parents money more than I already have.
