    5HP Tecumseh No Spark
I have a 5HP tecumseh on a john deere snow blower it has good compression but it has a very weak spark and I don't know why I cleaned all of the Ignition parts the flywheel the coil even the breaker points but still very little spark could it be the coil or the points?? (HS50) (67252E) (4228B)

Without knowing what you've tried already it's hard to recommend what to do.

BUT, The most common thing that causes a bad spark is rusty contacts between the coil and the flywheel. Just remove the coil and sand the contacts on it and the flywheel and put them back together by using a business card as a the gapper.

I had same problem with same engine. New condenser fixed it. (after cleaning magneto and points)

One more thing that you may want to check is to see if something is grounding out the kill wire to the coil/magnetto. You should be able to unplug the kill wire at the coil and see if it gets any better spark rather quickly. If it does, then just trace the wire to see if it is pinched somewhere. Of course you won't be able to shut it off without plugging it back on. I've had this problem before and it took me hours of trying to figure out why it wouldn't spark until I found it.

    KISS

The condenser normally controls the spark. It's the discharging of the condenser that excites the magnetic field of the coil.

Secondly, the spark is weaker in air than in the engine.

While you in there you just might as well replace the points.
