Running an .exe file from Web
I have a demo that is in the form of an .exe file, I am wondering if it is possible to run this from my site, without the user having to save the file and download it. Can I link it and just tell them to Open it, instead of Save? Are there issues with doing this?

    Thanks

For the most part - the answer is no.

As for the second part of your question - yes. Is the program tested on all platforms? Installing software on a machine - well you can opne yourself up to all types of problems. What happens if someone installs the software & his system crashes? Unfortunately these are things that we must all deal with from time to time.

It doesn't actually install to the system, and it's been tested on windows machines. I tried to do it yesterday, but even if you select 'run from current location' it still downloads and then runs, then it can't find the support files it needs to have the same directory.

Do you have access to the server? Will yor admin allow it?

Ahhh.. Thanks for the link. No, the server is hosted by another company, at the moment anyway. They are talking about getting their own, then the admin would allow it, since he is the one that wanted it done that way, haha

We talked to the hosts earlier, they said we could do it as long as we had the script for it, to stop the automatic download. Again, thanks for the help!
