    Hi you control contrast through grades, ilford multigrade lets you adapt the contrast to get what you want. Grade 5 high contrast grade 1 low. Negs hande information over about 12 f.stops, paper over only 5, it's the paper that lets you down.

    I agree Ilford's... Ilfobrom Galerie... multigrade MGW24.k warm black and white... keep with warm and fiber based papers... Ifospeed RC has a resin pearl gives a nice contrast for portraits... look up Forte products... it is from Hungaria... stay a purest
