    Opt-h1b status, can I use form 1040 nr
    I started working on a h1b visa in nov of 2007, I was doing opt for 2 years prior to that up to oct of 2007 , I filed tax return last year
    Now I need to no which form to use to file
    Also my wife is here and my kid also , they have no social security or tax number
    Can I put them on as dependents?
    Can I deduct donations I made to goodwill?

    You can file jointly with your wife and both choose to be treated as resident aliens. This will allow you to claim you child and will make $19,900 of your income exempt from taxes, PLUS make you eligible for the Child Tax Credit.

    You will need to complete Form W-7 to apply for ITINs for your wife and child, then submit them with your tax return.
