If your periods are normally irregular, then that's likely what's going on. But, false negatives do happen, more often than people realize.
Try another hpt. Follow the instructions exactly (many times someone gets a false negative because they didn't take the test properly).
If it's negative again then wait until your next period is due. If you miss that one as well, then try another test.
Why are you afraid to take a blood test?
Some women do not register pregnant on a HPT right away. Seeing as you are irregular often though, maybe you should wait another week or two and retest or see if your period comes along. If you are more than a month late, or if you are too concerned to wait, call the doctor. Are you scared to find that you are pregnant, or scared that you are not? If pregnancy is not something you are wanting at this time, maybe discuss birth control with your doctor to help regulate your period as well as providing peace of mind for you and your husband until you are ready for a pregnancy. Good luck!
Thank u for responding.. :)
Actually I am scared because I really want to get pregnant.. :(..
I get a month late periods a lot. :( And it freaks me out cause I really don't want to get pregnant. Keep sexing until you get pregnant and hopefully you are already pregnant!Quote:

Sorry to hear that iiQra... how long have you and your husband been trying? I know it can be discouraging when it doesn't happen as quickly as you would like it to. Most couples will become pregnant in the first year of actively trying, but some will find it takes a bit longer than that.
With irregular cycles it can be more difficult. Have you discussed with your doctor ways to maybe regulate your cycles? That might be something to consider doing. You may have fewer opportunities to become pregnant since odds are you are not ovulating on a regular basis either.
How irregular are your cycles? Do you have them each month or so but just a different number of days in each cycle? Such as 28 days apart one time, and 38 days another? If so, what is your shortest cycle and what is your longest? Or are you having just several a year?
Some ways you can check for possible ovulation would be to try temping and charting... BBT (Basal Body Temperature) You can purchase thermometers designed for this that will also provide the graphs and you can also get some online. It takes a few months, but you might notice a pattern as to when you are likely ovulating. This method is very effective for some women but can be frustrating for others.
You can also watch for changes in your cervical mucus. Usually after a period, there will be little mucus present and it will be thicker. When your body prepares for ovulation, the cervical mucus will become more fluid and clear. This allows the sperm to survive a few days prior to ovulation.
Some women also find checking the position of their cervix helps them. After your period, it will usually be easily felt and will be closed and firm to the touch. Close to ovulation it will shift higher, be more difficult to reach, and will feel softer. Not everyone is comfortable checking their cervix, but it is one other way to determine when ovulation might be close.
Using ovulation predictor tests can work well for some women too. With irregular cycles, however, it can get a bit expensive since you would need to use the tests more frequently. It is important to read the directions carefully to be sure that they are used correctly.
None of these, however, will tell you that you are indeed ovulating, only that your body has prepared for it.
Another way to cover the timing would be if you and your husband were able to have sex every 2-3 days throughout each cycle. For most couples every day is fine, but about every other day would usually be sufficient. Keep in mind, that even with good timing, pregnancy can take many months to achieve as timing is only part of it.
First step, I would see your gyn to discuss your trying to become pregnant and the irregular cycles.
Had to spread the love, but EXCELLENT post, Doula!
Thank You for being nice and helpful Doula..! :)..
It's being few months that we are trying.. every time.. I get upset..
Sometimes my periods come after 40
Days sometimes less but it changes
Every time.. I asked to Dr about my periods and she was like u have to do some type of test and long process.. and I step back bcoz I didn't have that much money to cover my all medical..
I think I should try ovulation kit.. and then mu luck.. : )
I just want to say that many dollar stores have ovulation kits. I know some people say they don't work, but, I work at a dollar store and many of my customers swear by these tests, and say that they work very well. I don't know first hand because my baby making days are over. But, if you're on a tight budget, check out your local dollar store. :)
When should I used it.. everyday or after few days of my period?
When should I used ovulation kits? I can't follow the ovulation calendar bcoz my periods are not irregular and them trying to get pregnant.. But nothing is working.. :(
What would be my menstrual cycle days? I had periods on 11 Jan.. 18 Feb.. And March 30..
I am trying to follow the ovulation calendar to get pregnant but unfortunately my periods are not regular..
Usually you ovulate 14 days after the first day of your period.
My ovulation tests never worked they always showed positive
My periods stay 7 days..
So u mean 29 Feb? I ovulated?
Or 4th March I ovulated?
Because last month..
I had sex with my husband from
Feb 29th to march 6th..
But unfortunately again it didn't work..
then what I suppose to do =(
Do u start period same well close to same dates every month? Like I start between 21 and 23 every month
No.. my periods like.
Jan 11..
Feb 18
March 30..
Now and I don't understand how to count menstrual days and all.

Ur welcome you can try your test and see what they say
How long have you been trying? It is common for couples to try for up to a year before conceiving. Sometimes even longer. Have you recently come off a hormonal birth control? Many times when a woman ends her regulated birth control, her cycle can be a little off for several months. Your periods don't seem to be that irregular to me. Most women have a cycle that lasts between 28 and 35 days, and while your cycle seem to be a little longer, there is still a pattern to it.
I have never like ovulation calculators. Pay attention to your discharge. A lot of time, when we are ovulating we will have a clear stretchy discharge. This is the best time to try and conceive.
I would suggest trying to have sex at least once to twice per week, and at least 3 times during the time when you are ovulating. If you can't determine when you are ovulating by the discharge, don't worry and just try to have sex at least once or twice a week.
Also, try not to think too much about conceiving. Just go with the flow, and let nature serve it's course. Many times women will stress their bodies out just by thinking/trying too hard to become pregnant. Good luck to you!
Thank you Angel and allz :)
And I will try to pay attention for my ovulation time. :(
Good luck! And don't become discouraged!

The fact that your periods are not regular could complicate it a little bit, but you usually ovulate 14 days after the end of your last period. If it's really irregular I'd go see a doctor about it as there could be an underlying problem or that could just be how you are. There are also ovulation detectors out there I think that could probably help you out and be a bit more accurate than counting the days.
Sorry forgot to add that if you count another 14 days after the ovulation time then that should be the day that your next period would start. So take the date your last period ended and add 28 days. Some people differ though... it just depends.
