Well, I've had very odd periods since about September 2010. But, it wasn't until about November when I started having nasua, horrible pains in my abdomen, my breasts getting more and more sore, fatigue, a lot of back aches and headaches, and weird cravings. Do you think I'm pregnant? Or what? I've taken about 3 home pregnancy tests but those things never have gave me the right answer. So, I had my doctor take 4 blood pregnancy tests and they were positive. But, he said it was PCOS making my body think I'm pregnant and that's why they were positive. Can PCOS really do that to a woman's body? Then he said the syptoms would go away but they haven't and he told me this like December 9th 2010. I need help please. What should I do?

Did your doctor do anything else to determine that the positive blood tests weren't because of pregnancy, like an ultrasound?

No, actually he just sent me home with some weird antibiotics and said everything would be fine. Problem is I have no insurance because I just started my new job. So, no going to the doctor for me yet. This sucks.

I wish we could give you a definite answer, and I would never say that you shouldn't trust your doctor, but I have to wonder why he would just dismiss 4 positive blood tests to PCOS. Women with PCOS can get pregnant, so why would he just assume, without further tests, that you're not, when you had 4 positives?

I'm sorry that you're in this situation. Are you still on the antibiotics?

I have no clue why he would do that either. He was just a horrible doctor all together I do believe. He was one of those ones who needed to go back to school and learn something that he could actually do. But, your being a great help. Thank you!

Was this doctor you saw an OB/GYN or your primary care physician?

There are a few things that may cause a false positive, but typically, PCOS does not.

He was my OB/GYN.

Well, he also said it wasn't just the cysts. The cysts were actually making my period blood back up about 3-4 months and expanded my uterus walls to make a positive pregnancy test and my body was reacting as if it was about 4 months pregnant.

Is that possible?

That wouldn't cause a positive test. A positive pregnancy test is due to the Hcg hormone. This hormone is released in pregnancy and only a few other causes. Very few causes to be exact.

I understand you don't have insurance right now, can you go to your local health department or planned parenthood?

What very few causes can make the hormone release without being pregnant?

Why don't we start from the beginning. First thing in the morning why don't you take a urine pregnancy test and see where that leads you.

Well, I can't take urine tests because they don't show the right result ever. They never have. So, I've always had to have blood tests.

I haven't had an "actual" period since Semtember 15th 2010. In October or Novemeber I didn't have one, December 3rd 2010 I had about 4 days of dark spotting. Nothing since then. Now I still have all the syptoms and no period what so ever.

Still try to take a HPT and get to a clinic. We'll have to wait and go from there.

kelsx... are you taking anything for the PCOS? Was there an actual diagnosis for it after some testing, or is it an assumption that it is the cause?

No I'm not taking anything. The doctor didn't give me anything. To my knowledge it was just an assumption all they did was blood tests and an x-ray they didn't actually do an ultrasound.
