    I'm 17 and I don't know if I'm preganant
    Hello,

Well ill start with the fact that I just turned 17... my boyfriend and I had sex on Sept. 6th 2009. I'm not on any birth control and we didn't use any other birth control, he did use the pull out method though. We had sex before so it was nothing new... when I got up to go to tha bathroom I noticed I was bleeding. I wasn't due for my period until tha 9th or 10th. The bleeding was heavior than my usual period and it lasted only about a week.. I usually have my period for 8-10 days. I've taken 2 home preganancy tests and they both came out negative... I've researched all the sighns of preganacy and it seems like I'm getting all of them.. I've been getting really dizzy, along with tha headacks. My lower back has been hurting latly, I've been feeling like I'm going to throw up but I never end up throwing up. My legs have been cramping along with my lower stumick. I've also been wanting to sleep a lot more than usual. And that's not normal for me. If you can tell me anything. Please do.. I'm veary confused and I need to now...
Thank you for taking tha time to read this. Have a blessed day..
    Heather.

Heather, it's possible that you are pregnant, however it's too soon for all of those symptoms to be showing up. It sounds as though you did get your period, so you will now have to wait until your next period is due to test.

Your symptoms don't point to pregnancy. You would only be a few weeks and in that time you would most likely be symptom free.

Wait until you have missed a period and then test with first morning urine.

You are playing Russian roulette and at some point you will run out of luck.Unless you are financially and emotionally ready to be parents, you need to smarten up about birth control.

May I add that the pull out method is not a method of birth control, it doesn't work, not at all.

Please, if you're going to have sex then find a form of actual birth control. The pill and a condom is a great idea.

There is not form of birth control that's 100% effective so if you're having sex then pregnancy is always a possibility.

Let us know how it goes.

    Good luck.

I understand to tha fullest that tha pull out method is not a smart idea... and I do understand that any time while being sexualy active there's a high posibility of a preganancy.. thank you for responding to my post... and believe me when I say this, it won't be happening again..

    That's good to hear.

Now you'll just have to play the waiting game, wait until your next period and if you miss it, test again.

Let us know how it goes.

I'd wait until you're at least a week late, then test. Make sure to use first morning urine because it's more accurate.

I'll cross my fingers for you. :)

Is it normal to bleed heavy after intercourse? And how long would you say it would last?

    No, it's not normal.

    How heavy?

How many times have you had sex?

This could be because of rough sex or your body just not being ready to accept him.

I really can't give you sex tips seeing as you're 17 and it's against the rules of this site.

Have you seen a doctor about this? That would be my next step.

Remember that doctors have doctor/patient confidentiality, so you shouldn't worry that your parents will find out. There's also planned parenthood, but I'm not sure what services they provide with regards to vaginal bleeding and the cause.

Either way you shouldn't just let this go. You need to find out why this is happening.

I was going through at least 2 pads in one hour.. and usually when I wear them I could wear one for at least 2 or 3 hrs and it not even be half way full...
Yes I have had sex before, but I didn't bleed at all...
I've made an appointment to see tha doctor at planned parent hood and when I went in she was gone, so I didn't really get to see her...

You really need to go again.

Bleeding that heavily is not normal at all and indicates that something isn't right.

It could be something very minor but it could also be serious.

Do you get yearly pap smears? You should be, especially because you're sexually active. If so, when is your next scheduled appointment?

Try again with planned parenthood, or your gynecologist.

Hun, a pap smear is when the doctor takes a little Q-tip and swabs your cervix for anything out of the ordinary. This should be done every year once you become sexually active.

    Very good idea.

Here's some info on Pap smears. Sorry, it's Wickepedia, but the info is accurate.

Pap test - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

While you're there mention that you're concerned that you may be pregnant. You can also ask for a prescription for birth control pills but don't start taking them until you find out for sure that you aren't pregnant.

Make sure to mention the vaginal bleeding that you're experiencing.

    Keep us posted. :)

I feel the need to add my .02 cents to the credability of the " pull out method ". If you understand why it does not work, you most likley won't rely on it again.
As the progress of coitus gets closer to ejaculation in a male, a dribble of the fertile liquid exits it's nozzle before the actual muscle spasm actually occures. Many guys have perfected the pull out timing to deliver the prize on the sheets. But it's too late. The couple is unaware that they got the prize before the package was opened.

    PG Rated explanation

Buggy, A dribble of ejaculant, many times will leave the male organ BEFORE the muscle spasm/ejaculation actually occurs. So, a guy using the pullout method is likely to be too late to prevent the introduction of semen into the females reproductive canal.

Frankly, the rhythm method is not a reliable choice of contraception. Don't trust any guy who says, " don't worry.... I'll pull out ". Most guys have never heard of this bodily function.

TRUST ME ON THIS. I'm a guy who knows.

Thank you so much for explaining that to me.. to be honest with you I've never hurd anything from a guy about this before, I've always had girls respond to my questions. So thank you for answering me and taking tha time to explain. So there is a chance I could be pregnant even if he never fully ejaculated in me?

Yes, there is a chance but it is not 100% that you are. A dribble or a seepage of fluid may not make it to the egg.

You see Buggy, what happens is that the penis is lubricated with pre-ejaculate, this contains sperm. This happens before ejaculation and the man is not aware that this is happening. This is why the pull out method does not work.

Buggy, My wife who is an RN was wondering why you think you are pregnant. In your original question you stated that you had heavy bleeding.

Don't phsyche yourself out. It dosen't sound like you've missed a period.

I'm not trying to phsyche myself out, and my period isn't due until the 9th of oct so I don't know yet if I've missed it.. I was thinking that I was pregnant because when I went to the doctor she asked me if I was and I told her I didn't know. So she asked me when the last time was that I had sex and I told her,and let her know what happened about him pulling out and ejaculating instead of inside me and she told me that there's a good chance that I could be pregnant.. so she told me to take an hpt or come back and get one done. I did take an hpt but I took it to soon so it came back negative. Please let her know that I do understand the consiquenses of sex and that anytime a girl has unpertected sex that they could get pregnant.. I've had my share of sex ed. In my old high school I had to take it for 3 years straight so I preaty much now what goes on and how baby's are made.. and the "heavy bleeding" could have been from my period but that just doesn't make any sense because "that" happened the 6th and I wasn't due for my period until later on in the middle of the month.

The way I' m understanding this is.. . You finished the romantic encounter. Then got up off the bed and soon after started bleeding. If that's what happened, I'm wondering why you're worried.
I'm not a female but it seems to me that the intercourse brought on your period early. That can happen.

Not trying to be too nosy but was it your first time? Bleeding usually occurs when virginity is lost, but not as much as you are describing.

Have your periods always been regular? Has anything happened recently that may have caused stress or anything else to cause you to have an irregular cycle?

Even if it was your cycle there is still no guarantee that you didn't conceive. While not terribly common a girl can get pregnant even when she is on her period.

All you can do is wait, like everyone else said. Its not fun but try and not stress yourself out too much between now and then. Stressing yourself sick won't change the outcome. You may also be more nervous becuase you have been reading about pregnancy symptoms online. Just reading about them may cause you to subconsciously recognize symptoms that aren't really there or misinterpret things as pregnancy symptoms.

You don't have to apoligize for anything your not being nozy.. and no it wasn't my first time. But wats weird is when I did loose my virginity I never bled like everyone keeps saying.. I have another doctors apt the 12th. If nothings happened from now to then, then she's going to have me take another hpt. Like you said all I can do is wait. And worring won't change nothing. Thank you, for some reason I feel like I needed to hear that today.
