So I had my baby on December 29th. We had to be induced because my blood pressure was 144/110 which was very bad... I had to get the pitocin drip and that was no fun. I went from feeling absolutely nothing one minute then the next thing I knew I was having contractions every 2 minutes lasting 45-60 seconds long. Then the contractions got so strong they were one right on top of the other and I could barely breathe. They would not let me get up at all. I was not allowed to walk around, use the tub, use the birthing ball, NOTHING! I had to stay on my left side which was hard because each time I got a contraction I HAD to move around or else I'd lose it. I made it to 10 cm within five hours, but then they called my doctor and made me wait to start pushing because he wasn't as far down as they would've liked so I stayed at 10 cm for 9 hours! At that point I had to tell them to give me the epidural or else I'd start pushing. I'm glad my doctor made me wait to start pushing (of course after I got the epidural) because I only pushed a few times within 15 minutes he was out. Carter Lee Russell was 7lbs 0oz 21 inches long. After he was out, they took my blood pressure four times within the hour and each time it was perfect. Weird what pregnancy can do to your body huh?

Congratulations!! What a beautiful baby and a good weight indeed!!

Unfortunately with your blood pressure the way it was it was safer to keep you in bed. You were extremely close to seizure activity!

Yeah, staying on that left side sucks, I had to do it with all 4 babies, but it gets the needed oxygen to the baby, laying any other way deprives the baby of oxygen. Oh, I hated the oxygen mask too... so freaking annoying!!

Anyway, glad you got the epidural, and you have a beautiful son!! Congrats again!!

Thank you! All four babies wow, that is no fun. They gave me the oxygen too but in the middle of a contraction I got mad and ripped off the oxygen and blood pressure cuff... I hate those masks too. For some reason they make me feel like I can't breathe even more. Thanks again!
