Present pool screening does not pass enough sunlight to heat the pool
I have an in ground pool with a screen enclosure. It seems that the present charcoal colored screen material shades the pool to the extent that there is not enough heating of the water to comfortably use the pool even during the month of August. Is there any screen material which will pass a greater amount of sunlight to heat the pool? We are in Miami, Florida, but have a problem with some trees shading from the East and the house shading from the West, so that the poll receives direct sunlight only during midday.

Do you have to add water very frequently to your pool. I'm wondering if leaks are causing you to introduce cool water to the pool too frequently, so that it keeps your pool water temp lower.

The screen will lower the temp. I don't know of a screen that will allow any more light through. But your air temp being near 90 degrees everyday should compensate for the screen in the summer-time especially.

If you are not having to add a lot of water, then your only option would be to add a heater. Either solar or a heat pump are good options. Solar is a good option if your community will allow the panels to be installed where the sun hits them.

    Good Luck,
    Al

Al might be onto something because your pool should be in the upper 80s just due to the ait temps. What is your water temp today?
