You are obviously unaware of one function of news reporting, I'll repeat what I previously pointed out:

There was a time when I checked the bookings daily, sometimes twice a day to see who was arrested, and what they were booked for.

Day or night you can almost find someone from a Daily in and out of a Jail booking area; a booking becomes public domain when it is completed; therefore, especially if there are more than one Daily, it's a scoop for the Daily that runs the story if the other does not.

Although I was not a reporter for a Daily, I had good reason to know if certain people had been arrested and we kept up to date a couple of times a day.

Usually an arrest is old news by the time it's on a court docket, especially if it is a noted person like our friend.

Perhaps ; running as an outsider is a well tried and true formula . But I can't make an evaluation of Romney yet. He personally has been a successful businessman and Governor just like his old man. I do not know if he would come into Washington tainted but once there... who knows? There have been many a Don Quixote defeated by the realities of the town .

Apparently apparently nobody can explain how it slipped by. I do know the officer that made the arrest tries to spare the accused of embarrassment and told Craig "I don't call media."

Or how about defeated by the weirdness factor? Seems the subject of Mormonism is getting a lot of play from the liberal media. This week's Newsweek asks, Is Polygamy in Afterlife OK?

I didn't hear about that one. What's next? If failure occurred plan "B" was to have Sen. Craig seduced by Barney Franks? I don't think anyone could had written such script. Everybody including hardcore Republicans had a chuckle at the office. Sure the Democrats will have a field day with this just like when "Festus Haggen" Cheney went hunting.

Anyway that theory would be giving the Democratic party way too much credit. It was the Republican party that pressured Sen. Craig to step down.
