How do my arguments ring hollow. You made it sound like Bush was the first President who ever politicized the Justice Dept. You know better than that . The FBI was the instument of both political parties for years under the Hoover years and JFK and Bobby K. had no problem using them for things like... oh lets say domestic espionage against political enemies.

It really suprises me that people who know better make the argument that the use of the "expanded view of the Presidency " is something that began with President Bush when in fact I can point to examples of what some would call excess from every President in history including some of the ones history calls our greatests .
