    Toilet rough in
    I want to install a new toilet in my master bath. I measured the "rough in" and it's 13.5 inches. I know most toilets the "rough in" is 12 inches. Will I be able to install a new toilet with a "rough in" of 12 inches without any problem? Also, there is a gap of about 2.0 inches from the very top of the existing toilet to the back wall if that makes any difference??

    This distance will remained the same. The existing toilet is a 12'' rough in. you will not have any problem installing new toilet.

    Yes, what you have now is a 12" rough in toilet.
    They make a 2" off set toilet flange. Depending on the type of piping you have you may or may not wish to use one to move the toilet closer to the wall. Doing so can be a bit of work depending on piping and flooring.

    Hi Jeff

    These guys are right... you will certainly not have issues fitting a 12" rough toilet, but you will have that 2-3" gap behind the toilet, for sure.

    In cases like this, it will be much easier to simply purchase/install a 14" rough in toilet... a little more expensive, but will end up with a toilet that is much closer to the wall and that is a better look and fit for this job... ;)

    You have been given two solutions.
    1- returns the 12 inch toilet and purchase a 14 inch toilet. **OR**
    2-replace the existing closet flange with a 2 inch offset flange.
