hidden water leak near kitchen area
I have this leak that is not noticeable under my sink, tubing is dry. The leak is on the outside floor area to right of my refrigerator and is oozing out of floor trim and soaking up the bottom of a cabenet that is kitty corner to where refrigerator, dishwasher and sink is. I think there must be a pipe running through there going to the hot water heater or a returning pipe. Hot water heater is in line with kitchen plumbing about 20 feet away. Do I need to turn off some values around the heater to temporarily stop the leak? Will the cabinet floor have to be tore up to get to the pipe if it is there? I am worried about cost factor.

Are you on a slab? Let's check to see what you have. To check to see if you have a hidden leak first shut down everything in the house, no flush, no drinks of water, and if you are on a meter go out and check the little pointer in the gage. It should not move or creep. If it does you have a leak. If you're on a pump then check the pressure gage after the pump builds up to pressure and shuts off. The gage should not fall and the pump come back on. If so then you have a leak. Ow shut the cold water supply valve off to the water heater and check the pump gage or meter. If the meter's still turning the leak's on the cold side if the meter has stopped or the pump holds pressure then you have a hot water leak and I would shut the water heater off and leave the valve closed until I got it repaired. Good luck, Tom

Can you post a picture. I'm having difficulty forming a good image of where you see the water. You should also realize that where you see the water may not be where the leak is. First thing I would do (after doing what Tom has said) is remove the refrigerator toe kick and look there. Could be ice maker line or valve leak or could be over flow of condensation pan.

I'm having the same problem. Basement below with no visible leaks. Nothing on second floor above related to plumbing. Pulled out Fridge and no leaks from the water line or connection. No link between puddle and visible plumbing for fridge. Seems to show up in the evenings- we have a well, not public water. See attached photos - the puddle is in the same spot each time, and travels along the grout. It's hard to tell where it originates from. Cabinet above drawer in photo holds a wall oven / microwave unit. Normally, I wouldn't think much of this, but it has shown up 3 days in a row in the same spot. Any help is appreciated!

Figured it out... the freezer defrost cycle runs, but the water is not draining. The water forms a sheet of ice at the bottom, then when the defrost runs again, it leaks out the bottom of the fridge. It was decieivng because it was not right next to the freezer. Now, I just have to figure out why it's not draining... probably a chicken nugget blocking the drain!

Yes, the condensate line will get clogged after a period. Remove tubing from tray and run small wire down. Blockage is probably close. If you have a air compressor blow out line with air.
