    Is PEX safe?
I am considering replacing the old galvanized piping in our 1920s home with PEX tubing. I know it has been up for environmental/safety review in California. I also know it has been used in Europe for years seemingly without consequence. I want your opinions/experiences: Is PEX safe for drinking water? Thank you.

Absolutely safe. Everyone here will tell you that PEX is great stuff. I've been using for heat/water for long time now and I have yet to be dissapointed or even have 1 call back.

I am unaware of any health issues that pertain to PEX. Them Californian's like to get all excited for no reason sometimes... I mean, plastic may leach a chemical or two into water... but what do you think the old standby... copper does..? Anyway, I would not hesitate to use... I think the only reason California is concerned is because they know there won't be as much REPAIR work in the future... ;) Hope that helped some. Let me know if you need more information... MARK
