No hot water - hot water heater and cold working
    HELP!
Its freezing out and we have NO hot water! Cold is working fine everywhere - but nothing comes out of the hot side anywhere. The hot water heater appears to be working? Did the hot water pipes freeze? Why the hot side and not the cold? Please help.

    Hey Floyd,

We are getting snowed under with hot water pipes freezing. The reason hot water freezes before the cold is that setting in the hot water tank is that cold water has more air content while hot water sets in the tank and deoxidizes. In other words hot water's heavier then cold and freezes faster.
That's why we supply ice makers off the hot water supply. If we supply off the cold side the air in cold water makes the ice cubes cloudy while the ones supplied with hot water come out clear. And now you know the rest of the story. Regards, Tom
