I am installing a sterling dual flush toilet which is to be installed as close to the finished wall as possible. When measuring my center line to the drain I am at 11 3/4" instead of 12" are there any ideas out there besides an offset toilet flange? I can't find a 1/2 to 1" offset closet flange do you all know of one? Will I be okay with the 1/4" off ?
It is a basement bathroom that won't be used much and there is no longer access to the drain line . Thanks for all your help.

Hello Nina, if you have 11 3/4" from the finish wall then you should be in good shape, you should still have a small gap between the wall and the back of the toilet about 1/4" . In most cases if you needed that 1/4" you should be able to slide toilet foreword that much , but I don't think that will be necessary. Put your closetbolts on the flange and set your toilet in place without the wax ring, and set the tank in place so you can see that the tank is going to set right on the bowl. If your happy with the fit, then take off the tank and toilet, and set the wax ring in place, set your toilet and complete assembly. You should be all right. Goodluck-------Zeke

In fact, you are better off with 11.75" rough in from finish wall then with a true 12" rough in.

Set the bowl like Zeke suggested... whatever space you end up with between finish wall and toilet tank is closer than if you had a true 12" rough... ;)

You will definitely not be too close!! In fact, most 12" rough toilets today are closer to an 11" rough... so you should still expect a gap (between wall and tank) of about an 1/4 to 1 inch!

Let us know how it goes and let us know the distance between tank and finished wall when all done... be sure to level the tank from front to back and left to right... without cracking tank!

Another question I called sterling and they said I am too close that there is an 1/8" tolerance. Do you all think think that I will be okay anyway? Or am I looking at an offset flange? Thanks again, Nina

NINA... you should be all set here! As long as you are 11.75 inches from the finish wall to the center of the toilet flange and no less!

I install kohler toilets all the time... and they never end up as tight to the wall as the specification sheets suggest.

If it makes you feel better... Dry fit the toilet and tank WITHOUT WAX GASKET in place.

I am quite confident that this will fit just right for you!

I think you'll be fine -- If it's the Sterling Dual Flush I think it is, a bit of advice on setting the plastic floor flange, though.

If this is the one with the white or gray plastic adapter that bolts to the closet flange and then the stool slides back into a black rubber boot, then buy an oversized stainless steel hose clamp and clamp the back of the rubber boot to the adapter body.

Also -- Depending on your floor finish, you might want to set the stool on a new and clean piece of cardboard before sliding it back into the boot, some of these stools are badly cast and will leave scratch marks on wood, linoleum or soft stone floors.

You're going to be just fine Nina. As both Mark and Zeke pointed out you have some "wiggle room" at the flange.
Here's a little tip. When tightening the tank bolts do not tighten them all the way down. Leave a little play in the tank so if someone leans back it won't crack the china case of the tank where the tank bolts go through. Good luck, Tom

I tested the fit of the toilet and it will just work. It is sitting against the tile on the wall. The toilet does not attach via flange bolts but with included hardware. If any of you do need to set the kohler persuade or the sterling stockton toilet, their strict 12" rough in should be adhered to. Thanks to everyone that answered my question I appreciate the advice.
