    Toilet install on slab
I am installing a toilet flange onto the waste pipe coming out of the slab. The closet flange I purchased slides down around the outside of the waste pipe.

My question is inorder to place the flange at the proper height above the slab, do I remove the concrete around the waste pipe so the flange can be set at the correct height. Or did I buy the wrong flange and need to find one that fits on the inside of the waste pipe?

If I have to remove concrete around the pipe, what is the best method to use so I don't damage to the waste pipe?

    Thanks,

    Hi Greg,
When we rough for a closet stubup we put a styrofoam (sp) closet wrapper around the stub-up before the cement is poured. This leaves a 3/4" space around the pipe so the closet flange may be mounted on the floor. Some times there's a "overpour" and a thin layer of cement covers the wrapper. Tap a screw driver down next to the pipe. If it goes down easy then just dig out the rest of the wrapper. They do make flanges that install inside the pipe but check out the closet wrapper first.
