Ok this is my second time asking for help.. Our guest toilet is not flushing it will fill with water but not go down. We snaked the vent and thought we cleared the line. We snaked the toilet and nothing. We bought a new wax ring and reset the toilet , this is also a new toilet. It still will not flush. This toilet does not have one of those holes in it that everyone is talking about. The toilet is level. What could the problem be? We would love some help before we will have to spend $$$$ on a plumber.

Start at the beginning for me.

Did you always have the issue with the old toilet and then tried a new toilet and still doesn't work?

Did you send a snake down the toilet drain pipe or just through the toilet and vent?

Ok you told me a few days ago to snake the vent. We did. It stated a few months ago so we replaced the toilet. It worked for a few weeks then started to not flush again, we replaced the flushing parts and it did not change. So I e-mailed my question, you answered and stated to snake the vents. We did that just the other day and nothing. From what we can see no clogs clear lines. They took the toilet off last night snaked the lines again reset toilet an dstill not flushing. Water is not getting sucked down

Will the water go down if you plunge it? Have you snaked the actuall toilet with a closet auger.

We have a roof vent, I snaked that.. with a 25 foot snake, we also snaked the toilet and we snaked the line when the toilet was off

OK... sounds like you may have gone down the wrong vent...

That vent going out the roof may not be the correct vent to have snaked..? What floor is this toilet on? Are pipes accessible from underneath.

We are a one story house, That is the only vent pipe. It is the right one for when my husband placed a water hose to try and flush the vent the toilet bubbled if that makes sense. Under the house is kind of hard to get to and we have not gone there yet

That bubbling suggests that the drain line itself may be clogged.

With limited info. Sounded like the vent... but with this info. I'm betting you needed to put out more cable than you did. Let me know what you think...

Just fine and the shower as well, also our other bathroom works great and they are on the same line

I can't find your last post I am new to this site and not sure of how everything works, the snake we used was 25foot. Should we get a longer one?

OK I found the last post, when we put the water in it the toilet started to fill then the bubbleing made some of the water go down. Like a gurgle?

How much cable did you feed down the drain with the toilet off? I agree with mass. The description you gave of the toilet gurgling when hosing the vent definitely makes it sounds like a clogged drain.

Also, can you tell us what diameter the head on the snake is? You may need a larger cable. Just a thought.

I would recommend at least a 3/4 inch cable with a 2 1/2 inch cutter blade(or as large a blade as you can fit in the pipe without having to force it in)

Sounds like you tried everything else... though I'm still not happy here.

How far away is this toilet from the other toilets in the house? I'm wondering if your MAIN DRAIN LINE IS CLOGGED or if this is isolated. Although you would think that it is just this toilet if it is the toilet closest to the low point of the main drain line it could actually be the main drain line.

Would be nice to see if this toilet gets picked up by the drain line before the other toilets..? If this is the case, you would definitely need a larger drain machine!!

Sorry all.. I revised my answer again! Suggesting that if main drain then will need a LARGE cable machine. Would test this by finding the MAIN DRAIN CLEANOUT and would then flood the system... see if blockage shows at the cleanout...

This toilet was the only one in the house when we moved in since then we have added our bathroom but our toilet is closer to the septic then the old one. Is there anything else we can try.. You said something about under the house?

Chase the pipes out under the house.. see if you can find cleanouts or just generally understand layout better.

Since toilet is not the issue (you changed it out) then drain system MUST BE ISSUE.

Yes you can rent them.

Guess we should have asked if you were on city or septic earlier. Have you checked to make sure your septic isn't overfull. Try this. Fill your washing machine to the largest load setting. Then kick it to the spin cycle(causing washer to drain) while it is draining, flush both toilets at the same time(better to have two people handy , unless you have really long arms, or are really fast,lol) See if you don't get water backing up in either a shower, or any drain at the lowest point.

Need to test that it is the main drain first. Need to investigate the layout under house a bit better... then we can decide if need the large cable machine.

Do you know where the main drain clenaout to the sewer main is..?

The septic is not full we have already checked that, all showers, washers sincks and the other toilet work perfect it is just this one.. anything else/

You guys are to fast for me. I still thinking about what to type and you have two post up on me, lol.

I do think it might be worth looking at the septic system before renting the machine, just to be double sure.

Only other thought...

May be time to bring a licensed, experienced plumber in to see what they think in person!

It costs less than you may think to get a pro. In to assess this...

You could spend money renting a machine, only to find that it doesn't cure the problem. Probably sleep better at night if you call for pro onsight service. Completely up to you. Either way, please let us know how it all turns out. Good luck and take care.
