What are you running: drain or water pipes ? Are you installing prefab-shower kit ? Do you have plastic shower base or do you plan on building one yourself ? Please, answer these question so we know how to respond to your question. Thank you. Milo
Hello MRW,
I believe you misunderstand for us to help people like you we have to ask some questions before we suggest what needs to be done, based on your post Milo did the right thing and asked you a few legitimate questions, and you can not find a better plumber than the experts we got on this web site, good luck.
John
Yeah right, by the way "we HAVE on this sight" wet "we GOT on this site" nice grammar. I asked a very simple question. If this guy knows what he is doing then he should know exactly what I am referring to without any further questions. Copper pipes means water not drains. And what the heck does what kind of shower base have to do with hooking up a faucet assembly?
Like I said I'll go ask a real working plumber!
Hi Mark,
Don't get mad these are the general questions that we ask to find out the exact problem and we don't know what your problem is because we are not there to see the problem and that's why we will ask questions before make our recommendation, we do know what copper lines are used for, once again the experts that we have on this site to combine some of them would have more then 100 years experience, you are more then welcome to call a plumber to fix your problem and thanks for using this site, good luck.
John
Hey Mark, thank you for your words of kindness and appreciation. Just trying to help you.
Sorry to say, but your question was too vague for a professional to answer without additional, more specific, information. You used wrong terminology. That's why I asked you what exactly you are doing. Let's look at your question:
1. " ....I have to run copper through the floor to add shower..." By saying " ...to add shower" did you mean: entire shower, or only shower pan, or shower valve, or shower head ?
2. Yes, copper is used for drains, too
3. "...Is it called a shower kit or shower assembly..." Shower kit in Home Depot is entire shower, consisting of shower base, shower walls, shower door - but no shower valve or h/c supply pipes. Same goes for "shower assembly" - only different terminology.
Now I know that you need "Shower valve body: rough-in and trim" . Yes, you can get it in Home Depot, all together in one box.
Good luck with your project. Milo
Thank you John
Shower valve body. That is all I need. Sorry to bother all you brain surgeons.
Copper is not used for drains in any world I am from. Unless you live in a trailer. Which is probably the case. There are different codes for different areas of the world.
I have been a contractor for 15 years. I do not normally do bathrooms. So it was a simple question I asked. If anyone doesn't know something, it's you. Those you can do, those who can't teach!
Please do not reply to this I am done with you all. Good bye!
Oh, I'm going to reply. You are an idiot. So you paid fifty bucks to get a contractors license. Good for you. I have my plumbing code book right here. And yes, copper is still allowed for any drain waste system. But I do believe you may be living in a different world.
MRW!!
YOU DON'T INSULT MY EXPERTS AND GET AWAY WITH IT! You've been reported to administration And if my recommendation carries any weight banned , if not from AMHD at least from the Pumbing Page. These "working plumbers" were only trying to help and you crapped all over them. I don't know what your problem is but we don't need it here. This isn't a first warning, this is our last goodbye. You're out of here! Speeball1 PS; Want to correct my grammar?
Hip hip hurray, Thanks speedball.
Thanks Tom and every one else, have a nice Sunday.
Best Regards,
