I'm sorry your message got deleted. I will look into it today. It wasn't supposed to. Merging posts help keep the page from being too cluttered. I do this with all back to back posts, not just yours and on occasion I also delete posts that are nonsense, duplicates or have nothing to do with the subject. I believe that 's been covered in #8 of toms and Marks timely tips.

In case you haven't figured it out yet that's what the "edit" button's for an d if you don't wish your posts merged then I suggest that you use the edit feature and add to the post you've already put up instead of cluttering up the thread with another post. In the meantime please accept my apologies, all it was supposed to go was to merg the posts not delete the text. I'm supposed to be able to go back and restore any post I merge or delete and I can't do it withthis one.

Of course it was permitted and inspected. It is a private home with septic tank. I have a plumber coming out tomorrow to look at this problem. Not the jerk that did it in the first place. Is there any way to add some kind of trap without busting out the concrete?? I kind of doubt it, but would appreciate any help there.

Plumbing itself will not take too much to correct. It is the pan water-proofing and tile work replacement that will make this job costly and messy. On top of it: the tile (workmanship and shade of tile ) rarely match unless entire shower is done at the same time.

Yeah, the waterproofing membranes, the tile the labor (mine) the expense. Two showers, a huge mess. I'm so exasperated. And now we can't even take a shower in this new house.

Sorry about the situation, but if traps are not installed, you should have pretty solid case against the builder.

Just about very builder is insured. Insurance should cover this mistake. In my area of operation plumber is be responsible for proper functionality of plumbing system between 3 to 10 years.

Take lot of photos and videos. Keep log of what's going on. Contact the builder in writing (by registered mail ) and present him/her with your problem. If he/she has smallest bit of intelligence, he/she will apologize to you and correct this at his/her own expense and in timely manner. I would certainly do...

In addition to Milos advice I would definitely demand a drainage smoke test. This would point out any other fixtures that weren't trapped. Please keep us in the loop on this. Good luck, Tom

Hey, Tom, Milo, Mygirlsdad, thanks for all your input and support. It's Friday and my situation has been resolved. It wasn't either of the a hole plumbers (no reflection on you guys, this it a small town) the guys that did the shower pans came out this morning. They didn't feel it was their responsibility but worked all day cutting through concrete walls and floors and installing the traps and putting everything in order. They charged me only for parts. They are not plumbers but they know that the plumbers aren't going to help me out of this mess. My drains work. The smell is gone. What's a wonder is how kind these guys are. When they started work at 7 this morning I was so happy to have someone helping me with this that we didn't even discuss money. At the end of the day they told me that this is who we are. We don't want you to be unhappy with our work. I know they did plumbing without a plumbing license but the are GC's. They came to my rescue and fixed the problem. No plumbers did. It's kind of weird, but thanks for all of your input. Things have a weird way of working out and now I can take a shower.

I just wanted to say that the guys who helped us out today, they each have 3 or 4 kids, those kids will have a great christmas this year.

That's how it should be. They are certainly responsible workers. Good to know all is in order and odor gone !

Sounds like these guys take very very much pride in thieir work. Im extremely glad to hear that they took care of a problem (that wasn't even theirs) to make you happy with your knew house. I will bet that they have gained you as a life long customer.Yes? As far as the original plumber goes, I would assume that they have lost your business ( and anyone else you tell) for life. Good way to go out of business.

Just glad you can now enjoy your new house. Can be a stressfull thing to take on(building a new home) but it's a nice comfort to know everything is done right at the end. Enjoy.
