    Mark,
Thanks. I will let you know what the inspector says about the vent. I have one more question. I got the compression type check valve. From the look of it it looks like no sealant(cement) is necessary for this. Do I need to leave some slack inside the connection(tight but when loosened the whole valve can be removed). i.e. should I insert the pipes so that they touch the inside flange. Is this connection supposed to be such that it can be disassembled easily? If I don't leave some slack here I don't see how I can easily disassemble the whole thing(given that the pipe comes out of a hole in the lid and is connected to the pump in the pit.) and goes up into the ceiling. Thanks again for you advice.

    Thanks
    Sam.

    Hi Sam...

Great question! I know exactly why you are asking this question... good thinking!

If you are installing a 2" butterfly shutoff as well then I would have you install a 2" 4-band no-hub clamp or similar (see 1st picture) just below the shutoff (and above the compression check valve) so that when you need to access you can shut shutoff off and then unclamp the clamp, bend the rubber back upon itself, and then remove the check valve and/or pump as needed.

If no shutoff (and I would if I was you... less sewage dropping back is better when servicing) then just install the clamp above the check valve and you will be all set.

Place the pipe into check valve so it bottoms out into the check valve... then tighten as expected.

    Keep em' coming... ;)
