If a Per Diem is given to you and the federal amount allowed is used it is not taxable to you. It is to be used to traveling expenses in conjunction with work.

I am not sure what you are saying. All I know is that for a year and a half my per diem was not taxed. Now, the last time I traveled, it was. Also, I have been receiving a truck allowancce for the use of my personal vehicle at work. It wasn't taxed for four months. Now it too has been taxed. Maybe you have some incite into this also.

The Federal government has established amounts for per diems for different parts of the country. If the per diem paid is within these amounts it is not taxable , if it is more than the allowed amounts the whole amount is taxable.

I am not familiar with a truck allowance, but if it is work related and it is something which you would not pay taxes on when you filled out an income tax form than it should not be taxable.

Thank you. I have decided that it is just easier not to fight it. Thanks again.
