I do not know that we are not talking about kids with problems. The kid is only two years old and already acting out.
We would have to know the discipline and so forth that the OP and her husband use to determine that we are not talking about discipline but from everything I have seen in the past 20 years I see these kids with ADHD and it is not the parents.
Other than they are at a loss of how to handle a kid like that.

My son did not have mental problems yet he and many others are acting out at extremely young ages because, I believe it is some chemical imbalance, or the immunization shots or something other than their upbringing. I have seen it even with upper class well disciplining two parent homes. Also if it is the parent(s) then how is it (like in my case) I had 4 kids and only one had ADHD, ADD, ODD and OCD and acted out?
I really don't think it is always a lack of discipline. But with some kids it is. I remember the neighborhood kids that would bully my kids because there was a lack of discipline in the home.
    There is a BIG distinction.

I wish I had learned about the nutritional and chemical imbalance things before our lives spiraled downhill like it did.

I am not for the Politically correct approach or the Dr. Spock or any child rearing so-called expert approach at all.
In fact I think they really don't get it when it comes to kids that have serious behavioral problems.

we were not discussing children with mental or physical problems. At least i did not think so. The lack of disclipin along with the lack or real parents in a household have contributed to many of the problems we see in our society today. Ask any adult over the age of 60 how behavioral problems were handled in schools and at home. You will see that there is a dramatic difference. also look at the number of problems our society had during the time these 60 year old's were growing up. They pail compared to today's problems. I do not believe than a good spanking will solve all of a child's problems, however when everything else has failed and a child is still unruly then maybe a good swat on the behind would get their attention. That is the point I was trying to get across.
Like i said earlier, if you think that Dr Spock's approach was wonderful, maybe you need to look at what happened in his own family.

As you stated: "If you don't believe that then the discussion is over."

I agreed - the discussion is over between us.

And so I haven't come back to address you. I will make one exception. I did not say anything about mental/physical problems. You are not quoting me.

(This has been discussed many times and is always a hot topic - this thread has other threads listed inside it: https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/parent...nk-219415.html)
