One time came running to us, saying her TV cord started jumping all around by itself. We got a dog 2 years ago. She is sometimes jumpy for no reason and hates to sleep alone as well. But it seems the spirit (feeling, whatever) is easier to handle since we've had our dog. How can we tell, for sure, if our place is haunted?

Maybe I have watched one to many t.v. Shows but have you tried taking pictures in different rooms? You are supposed to be able to pick up images on the film sometimes.
DO NOT use a quija board to find out. This only allows more spirits to enter and possibly stay. I use the board myself but not in dangerous places.
If you want to get rid of ghosts, try burning sage through out the house and say a blessing. However, it seems that you spirit (the one in the house. And yes, there is one.)is a lot stronger than sage can handle alone.The next best thing is to find a church that does exercisms. It may sound crazy but it is in the best interest of your family.
Don't forget to try and talk with the ghost. Maybe a little friendliness will go a long way. Good luck!

I'm no expert here, however I will share what I know


Let's assume that your house is not haunted... The possible reason you are experiencing haunting stuff according to one of those discovery.com show, is that you may be hallucinating - do you have a lot of electrical appliances in your house? do you use marbled floors? The show say that electric currents in the air can act on your brain and cause hallucination

In my own experience, I tend to have haunting dreams but ownly when I am under extreme pressure - so I have practiced stress management inorder to avoid those dreams and... it works! - of course, in my example, there never was anything 'dirty' there, and that those dreams were purely stress related... however, you might want to try

Another thing to share, I've heard that people who play with things like tarot cards... Any other fortune telling type stuff tend to experience things like what you are going through, so I would totally avoid those things

Next thing to share: (this may offend) what religion are you in? and how deeply are you into that religion? I have heard of people being extremely devoted to a certain religion(e.g, having statues all over the house) experiences such things, however when they turn to christianity, those things go away. (so they are saying that they have haunting experience with religions other then christianity) - this is what I have heard - you can choose to believe or not - for me.. I do.

Personally I think you may just be stressed. I am not you so I do not know, however as I have said before - my haunted dreams are stressed related, so maybe your haunted dreams are too

Your daughter, perhaps she is scared because you are scared. And your dog, maybe his being jumpy and hating to sleep alone is just his character


Anyway, you can always pray to God - the spirits should be afraid of God, especially Jesus

My friend and her family believed their house was haunted once, things kept going missing, stuff was moved and hidden. They called in a priest and he blessed the house and all of these things stopped. I don't think it's just a coisidence. It may be unlikely that such things as this could work if you do not believe in a religion, but it could be worth a try.

I would suggest leaving a video camera on a tripod or a tape recoder running in areas or at times where you feel such things may by going on, particularly when no one is around.

In one TV show that I saw on this subject a man turned on a tape recorder and asked a "ghost" various questions. He didn't hear a reply, but there was one on the tape.

Is your ghost a malicious spirit? If Not, sit back and enjoy the show. Ghost are GREAT conversation pieces. Especially when they act up in front of guest. Me and my girlfriend have been dealing with a phenominon for a couple of years now and no harm has come to anyone.
If it is malicious, talk to a local religious person about blessing the home.

I`m relieved to finally be able to tell of a similar problem.I thought I was the only one.Ever since my family moved,we`ve had an incredible run of bad luck and misfortune.(For example,in the past year alone,my father and all of his brothers have died,and they were relatively young and with no major health problems.)The bad things started happening as soon as we moved here,and it seems like every day brings a new problem or crisis.It seems unreal.Sometimes I think the place is cursed.Other times I think maybe since I never liked it here,I created a negative atmosphere,butmy instinct tells me that`s too coincidental.So I don`t know,I`m looking for answers myself.But at least now I know I`m not the only one in a similar situation.I thoght I might be crazy!

Unplug the TV. Your "ghost" is probably some sort of person(probably a malicious neighbor), that possesses the correct remote control for your TV, and enjoys lauging at you...


Seriously, if you think your house is haunted, here are a few tips from the rational:

1) Turn lights on. Yes, it will increase your electrical bill, but it will also make you a bit less jumpy since your house is illuminated.
2) Play some music. Something soothing or upbeat.
3) Don't leave doors open. This will help eliminate the "dark chasm" feeling.

If these suggestions don't help, see a psychiatrist, who might be able to help.

When I feel scared,I play Nirvana very loud.Then when I'm 'chilled',some REM seems to do the trick.

I hate it when that stuff happens. The dam TV goes off whne it has no timer or no remote for that matter and your power ahsent gone off. It has trobled me a lot...

U can tell if your house is haunted by just feeling a prescence there. You know someone is just watching you. You can also see sudden changes in your home by replcaing things or nightly visitors. If u feel a force laying you down, you know that there is someone there. There can also be a decrease in temperature in that particular spot where you think the ghost is. I've seen on many programs that ghosts are very sad and depressing things. If u suddenly start to feel depressed or not happy anymore you might want to consult an excocist to remove the prescense out. Some ghosts are too powerful so you should pray. Only god can save from evil things in the world no matter what.

About your house being haunted. The only way to tell is if you get an EVP recordor and put it in the most active room. The spirit may talk or pick up the EVP up. And if you have seen any Appritions OR Ectoplasin(wich is left by spirits) heard voices and stuff like that. One of the biggest things is Orbs. Little whight light ball of Negetive Energey (also left by spirits).

If one dog helped, maybe two would get rid of the problem entirely... :confused:

I once had a similar experience in an apartment I lived in during college. The lights would turn on and off, the television would snap on and change volumes rapidly, messages would be typed to friends on my IM that I never wrote and no... this wasn't just a particularly ornery roommate. :rolleyes:
My friend had the same experience with the dreams only they were very violent dreams and my friend even awoke with scratches covering her body after one of them. The entities didn't direct any aggression or anger toward me, but did attack and harm many of my guests. I came to notice a pattern.
They/he/she/it whatever was there would only become aggressive in two situations; first, if someone was arguing with me or doing something untrustworthy to me, or, if someone was using the stereotypical Catholic/religious mediums to get the entities to leave- i.e. holy water, bible, prayer, damning to hell etc... I myself wasn't a very religious person so I guess I never was much of a threat. To help the situation, I actually hired a paranormal investigation service.
They weren't able to get the entities to leave, but they did give me some great information about who they were and why they were there. It helped me peacefully coexist with those entities while in that apartment. Hopefully you will find a way to liberate yours from your domocile or find a nice agreement such as mine. Pay close attention to the behavior of your dog. Animals have a very keen sense about these things and that can help you know how to proceed. Wish you all of the best.

:eek: My grandparent's house is absolutely terrifying! Me and my cousin are a/b the same age and we go over there every now and then just to see if we can see something. Everyone is almost certain that it is haunted! Doors will slam, my grandparents bed shakes, they see things go into rooms, the closet door slammed when they were in there watching TV, just recently, my grandmother was sitting on the front porch and she thought she heard someone tap on the window behind her and she just thought one of her daughters were playing with her but she went inside and everyone was upstairs! One time me and my cousin got done swimming so we got in the bath (our bathing suits were on) and our grandmother came in there to wash her hands and she cut the water off and a few minutes later me and my cousin were talking and we both looked at the same time and the water faucet was turned on both sides, cold and hot! That was scary! We are supposed to go over there this weekend! I want to see something!

My house is the same as this. As soon as we moved in we have had the most incredible bad luck.my parents just put it down to pure luck, but I think there is something going on... like right now I can feel sum1 watching me but I know there's no one there.also, I saw a young girl run between 2 doors in our house.I thought it was my little sister, and walking into the sitting room (which is the room I thought she had run into) I asked her what she was doing, but there was only my dad sitting on the couch, and no one else. He saw my white face and asked what was wrong, but when I explained, he just laughed!

I live in a haunted house, but the spirits are nice and when my hands are full I have had doors open for me and have been stopped from falling down the stairs many times. They weren't always nice and we used to have to deal with stuff falling and things breaking. When we just ignored them things got better. Some times shadows of people appear in photos and I had a picture of me and my feet were not on the floor. I don't know how they did that.

I do not know how to tell but I have had feelings about the house that I live in do you ever feel like your being watched

Well I think that God may be trying to get your attention. I don't know your religion or if you attend a church but I do recommend finding one. It may seem crazy or weird but it works.

I saw your post, I do not live in Southern Ca. I live in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. But, bought a house built in 1941 in Gainesville, Fl. 2 1/2 years ago, I am renting it out at this time. I plan to move there in Sept. 2007. I had stayed there a few nights over a month or two visiting the house before it was rented out, cleaning etc.. I had the most erie feeling there that there was something or someone in the house with me. I had not said anything to anyone about it, but have been a little afraid to move into the house in Sept. The renters just sent me some photos on line of some of the rooms in the house and there are white globes in a couple of the shots. I got a very strong feeling that the photos had captured some spirit or spirits. I haven't asked the couple renting the house if they had any unusual experiences or feelings. They are very religious and I don't want to freak them out. Before they move out I will ask. I had lost a brother who was 15 when I was 2 years old... I always, always felt his presence and even saw him behind me in a mirror when I was 15. However, his presence disappeared the day my mother died. I have for years before my mom died and after "heard" when I go to bed on occasion "mumbling" of crowds of people, sometimes laughter, sometimes sounds like a game show on TV, funny thing when I get out of bed it disappears. I asked my younger son if he had the TV on when I first heard it, he said no but that he heard the sound too on some nights.. No neighbors nearby, no way the sound came from someone else. We were living in another house built in 1940, thought maybe that had something to do with it, but it has happened again several times in a new apartment we are in now. Again not the neighbors... OK, I seriously think that I have a Spirit in my house at night. By day it's gone, but by night I start hearing noises and it scares me a lot. We have a hallway that leads to where everyone in my family sleeps, and there is the bathroom at the end of the hallway. Last night I woke up from a "Ghost dream" and I all of a sudden heard a mad shaking of the door from the bathroom. Like the spirit was shaking the door to make it come off! My brother and I are the only ones who heard this, my brother said that this has been like this for a week and I only heard it last night, but I believe him. I heard it 1 more time before I decided to get up and take a peek on what the heck might be going on. I looked around the corner and there it was. The door was being shook but no one was there. I know I had nothing to be scared of because Spirits and ghosts can't do any harm to you, but it still gives me the creeps. Maybe the Spirit keeps doing it to let us know it's there. I want to try and talk to it, but I don't know what to do seeing this is my first time encounter with a ghost or Spirit, so please, someone tell me what I should do. I don't want to rammage the Spirit out of my home because I have a feeling it's someone we know, or just someone who is trying to get attention somehow, but I need help on this situation because I can't seem to figure out why it keeps shaking the bathroom door when it's closed. I've been recently wondering if my house is haunted. Right when school got out, I got these strange dreams. When I dream I'm usually a participant, I go around in do things. But in most of these, I was just watching, like it was a show on T.V. I didn't like these dreams, the reasons varied on the dreams. In fact, there was only one constant thing throughout the dreams. That was an intense feeling I had in the dream. It felt like frustration. I wasn't frustrated over anything at the time during my day to day life.

Then after about 4 days the dreams stopped, but I started hearing a noise. It sounds like something is being dropped on my nightstand. Something round and metallic. It sounds like it is bouncing then stops. However, it only lasts for a few seconds. It happens once each night while I'm trying to fall asleep, well it happened twice one night. It always happens when I'm turned away from my nightstand. My house has always made sounds, creaks, groans, etc. sounds that have always been attributed to the house settling. There are normal sounds that I hear every night, but no sound has ever just started like this. Other members of my family hear sounds too. My sister and mom hear something that sounds like footsteps on the roof each night. Once my sister heard a shotgun go off right by her head, loud enough to make her ears ring. She attributed to it being a dream, but I thought I'd include it.

It's not uncommon for things to randomly disappear around my house, but the number of times that's happened has increased drastically in the last year or so. Sometimes the item missing will reappear a while later, but recently, they haven't.

Occasionally I'll feel like I'm being watched, but I've gotten that feeling all my life, always when I'm alone so I don't think that's related to any possible haunting.

There isn't much else, really. No lights flickering, no T.V. turning on and off, no spiritual appearances. I was wondering if my house is actually haunted, or if it can be attributed to something in my daily life, like stress.

Oh, my house was built by my parents, so there isn't a problem with someone dying in the house, I live in the country, so it wouldn't be any neighbors playing pranks, because I don't have any. And the sound occurs no matter what time I try to fall asleep. My room is usually 5-10 degrees hotter or cooler than the rest of the house too, and the heater and air conditioner work sporadically in my room. Oh, my cat used to sleep on my bed every night, but a little before the dreams ended, she stopped.

Could I get someone else's opinion on this? I'm not very religious, and the spirit, if there is one, hasn't bothered me except for the sound. I'm mainly curious.

Here are the verses for the man who wanted to know where Jesus cast the unclean spirits into the heard of pigs. I personally don't believe much of what people say how you get ride of a ghost or unclean spirit. Some say the person didn't pass over to the other place and so on and so on. I believe in hauntings but I don't believe they are a person who hasn't "passed over" but a demonic presence. Each to there own opinion or belief I guess. I am very confident what I believe it the truth. Jesus said I am the way the truth and the life. No man comes to the father but through me. The demons also know this that's why a demon is rebuked "in the name of Jesus"

WOW! Listening to a band who was very open about his satanic belief. I mean the guy openly said he hates Jesus christ and worshiped satan. That doesn't make much sense. Inviting more evil spirits to get ride of the others. Maybe I think to logical but does that really seem like the best thing to do? "Only Time will tell" and when you know the truth it will be to late to change your mind. What a sad time it will be for people. Children of the Dark hate the light.

Your house defently sounds hauted but my brother and grandma died about 2 yrs ago and we had to move into their old house and it waz pretty active at first but now it is slowing down you should not be worried at this point because if they(or it) wanted to hurt you they would have made their move... and maybe it is haunted take pictures every time you get that feeling the orbs or the whole thing willl show tell them to keep some carrams around trust me it works:cool:

Its funny how there are so many explanations of the paranormal. It's a very easy answer. Its demons. I don’t believe it's a dead person who hasn’t pasted on there can only be 2 ways this works... 1 we evolved from nothing over billions of years and when we die we are dead and become a part of the earth. 2 we are created by God not with a little g but God creator of all that exists. I believe that God allowed himself to be born from a virgin in the form of a man who was named Jesus. He lived a perfect life and died for the sins of the world. Satan knows he was defeated when Jesus died and arose, and will do anything and everything to keep anyone he can from believing in the Lord Jesus Christ. He sometimes comes as a angle of Light. This is when they ghost seem nice and harmless. When they are called a evil spirit. This is when I believe at some time demons were invited and welcomed in some way. Maybe by a person who was even possessed and committed a horrible act such as murder. A demon takes the form anything to reveal itself. Demons feed on fear and anger. Do I have all the answer absolutely not, but I do know how to get rid of a demon if I ever had to. This topic can be talked about for hrs on end so I will leave off here and hope if anyone would like help to get rid of a spirit I would love to help them. To tell you plainly you must be saved. If you are a child of God Satan has NO power over you. Isn’t it odd how when priests bless a house in the name of Jesus or cast a demon out its in the name of Jesus? Or even praying to Jesus will rebuke the spirit for some time? Seems the demons know what will cause them to leave but not all people believe it. Go figure!

Go to a pastor or a psychiatrist.

I am a paranormal investigator in the New York area. It sounds as if a spirit is trying to communicate with you. If you want to clear your house, burn white candles in the rooms where there is the most activity. Also, put plants in those rooms. Tell the spirit that this is your house now, and they need to move on. Also, imagine that your house is surrounded by a bubble of white light. This creative visualization should help to calm things down.

Although I use a digital recorder and camera on investigations, if you want this to stop happening, I wouldn't try to take photos or recordings. It will encourage any spirit in the house to remain there. Good luck.

Use talcome powder flour or some other light powder. Spread it out on the floor and wait over night or maybe longer. Ghost energy is supposed to disturb the powder because its so light even if the ghost is off the ground. Another thing is just try to meditate or something and see if you feel any other feeling in the room. DO NOT use those oiuje board or w/e there called. They can open the door for evil spirits/demons to come into your hosue and then if you destroy it, it leaves the door open but now there's no control. Try to stay aways from all those damned witch like stuff because its either fake or gives power to the spirit usually. Now to mention months tof it invites stuff into your home

You should get your walls checked out. -lol- And maybe you do have some sort of presence in your home. And maybe the dog is a big help cause probably the person or thing haunting your home is allergic -lol- or doesn't like dogs or maybe is afraid that if it is seen by the dog your dog will start barking. But seriousaly about those walls. GET THEM CHECKED OUT.

Your house might be haunted. Mine is... I spoke to a spirit today. Well, don't make your daughter go in her room alone if she's that scared. Even take a tape recorder and record overnight in the room. Or, even ask the spirit questions while recording. It might just answer. I asked a spirit to talk today and they did!
