    ouija board crisis!
hey OK I really need an answer to this question.
me and my best buddy here were playing the ouija board and were really into spirits and apperantly the spirits were casting a spell on us, and said that we were going to get hurt. Can that happen? Should we do something? Or are they just kidding because they kept saying random letters! Please help us

tabenda, please don't print like that, it is hard to read. The spirits are having a great time with you two because they know you are just 'testing the waters'.

Ask them intelligent questions in the proper form and they will answer you in kind.

First stop playing with ouija boards, they do cause evil to come into your life, and we all have enough of that in this world already.

If they were saying random letters, how do you know what they were saying. Only those who are weak minded and believe in spells and the such can be harmed by them,

It's best not to be playing around with this stuff. Ouija boards do work. But, by using them, you don't really know with whom or what you are communicating. A number of years ago, I took my ouija board and broke it into pieces and threw it away!

I haven't seen any evidence that spirits or demons are the cause of any messages that may arise from the use of the Ouija board.

    I will second Capuchin's answer.

I have a ouija board and I have only used mine 3 times and nothing bad has ever happened from using it. I feel It all depends on how you use it.

Ouija boards open up a door way to spirits. Especially evil spirits. So this can open you up to the unknown which can cause many problems. Spiritually and physically.

I have heard that several times... I think tomorrow I will burn mine. Even though I don't use it. I feel I need to get it out of my home. Thank you

I do not think you should burn it, but just get rid of it. Stop using it. Hope I have helped.

If you believe in prayer, ask for protection.

When you get rid of a oija board your suppose to cut it into 7 pieces and burry them I forgot if you burry them together or a part but if you burn it that'll just anger the spirits

Don't worry about burying it. It's just a piece of wood or whatever. Are you seriously telling me that you believe that spirits line up at the ouija board factory to get installed into these things?

It's a piece of wood with letters painted on it. It's not magical, it's not spiritual, it's not evil, it's wood and paint.

The problem is Capuchin is you are trying to apply logic and reason. Apparently some people live in a different world where demons and spirits exist (even though people are suppose to go to heaven or hell in that world, how are they on earth bugging the living).

It's the Hasbro Inc. factory by the way.

Here is an interesting article about how the spirits can be defeated with a blind fold.

I don't see applying logic and reason as a problem.

That must have been one of those facts that I seemed to have missed in my life. :)

Here is a list of other evil games that Hasbro makes
    Candy Land
    Chutes and ladders
The Disney princess spinning wishes games (possibly the most evil of them all)
    Monopoly
    Risk
    Life
    Trivial Pursuit
Even if they didn't install the spirits in these games on purpose they are made in the same factory so you might get some bleed through to these other games. So best to keep away from Toys R Us all together can't be to safe.

I was hoping someone would actually point out that ouija boards are crap, but no one has, save the above, everyone knows Hasbro has accidentally put the spirit connection module into trivial pursuit by mistake for the last 18 years.

Honestly though, it has more to do with the power of suggestion, many people believe that on an unconscious level people who believe these things work move the pointer themselves to give answers relevant to what they think will happen.

    From Wiki:

"Skeptic and magician James Randi, in his book An Encyclopedia of Claims, Frauds, and Hoaxes of the Occult and Supernatural, points out that when blindfolded, Ouija board operators are unable to produce intelligible messages.[6] Magicians Penn & Teller performed a similar demonstration in an episode of their television show Bull! In which the operators moved the planchette into what they thought was the positions of "yes" and "no" without knowing that the board was turned upside-down, which caused them to move the planchette into blank spaces on the board."

Well... you've been told (by spirits) that you're going to get hurt. This could mean spiritually or physically. I advise you to get rid of the ouija board immediately and well, get a leader of a church or someone who knows what they're doing, to get rid of the evil from your house (because it's clearly there). Second, get your friend to do the same. Don't play around with the spiritual world, because it might look like fun but it's actually truly what controls the physical world.

Thought this was interesting and that you would all enjoy it...

    HISTORY OF THE OUIJA BOARD
While automatic writing was being embraced by mediums, those who satisfied their curiosity about the spirit world in the "home circles" were also searching for a more efficient way to reach the other side than by rapping on tables.

In 1853, a French Spiritualist named M. Planchette (according the to the stories anyway -- it should be noted that "planchette" in French translates to "little plank", making this story a little dubious) invented a device that could do much more than tap on the table. The “planchette” was a small, heart-shaped table with pencils attached to its legs. Those who used it claimed that it operated by spirit force and ghosts were able to write out messages from beyond. The invention was often used by the mediums as a more elaborate form of automatic writing, but it really did not hold wide appeal for the general public.

However, a short time later, another invention would come along that could be used by everyone. No experience was required and no real psychic skills were needed. This new device would revolutionize the Spiritualist movement and have an impact that still resounds today. The Ouija board was born.

Shortly after the planchette came to America, a cabinet and coffin maker from Maryland named E.C. Reiche created a new method of communicating with the dead. He devised a wooden lap tray with the letters of the alphabet arranged in two lines across the center of the board. Below these letters, he placed the numbers 1-10 and the words YES and NO in each lower corner of the board. He used the planchette with his board but removed the pencil tips and placed wooden pegs on the bottom of it. In this way, the planchette was free to move about the board.

It was always believed that Reiche named his board the "Ouija" because the name represented the French and German words for “yes” (oui and ja) but this was not the case. He named it that because he believed that the word "Ouija" was actually Egyptian for luck. Needless to say, it's not, but since he claimed to receive the word from a spirit on the board, the name stuck.

But Reiche was more interested in spirits than making money and he sold the invention to his friend, Charles Kennard, who soon founded the Kennard Novelty Co. with borrowed money and began producing the first commercial Ouija boards around 1886. The first patent for a "talking board" was filed on May 28, 1890 and listed Charles Kennard and William H. A. Maupin, both of Baltimore, as the assignees.

Shortly after the company started, the shop manager, William Fuld, decided to go into business for himself. He forced Kennard out of the business and changed the name to the Ouija Novelty Co. He began producing the "Fuld's Talking Board" in record numbers and became a successful businessman. He was a member of the Baltimore General Assembly in later life and remained in control of the company for the next 35 years. Finally, in 1927, during a brief slump in sales, Fuld strangely took his own life. He climbed to the top of a Baltimore building and jumped to his death. Other versions of the story have it that Fuld died accidentally while supervising the replacement of a flag pole on top of the building. A support post that he was holding onto gave way and he plunged to his death. This is likely the more accurate version of events, although Fuld committing suicide gave the Ouija an eerie taint over the years.

The Ouija Board was anything but a curse to Fuld's company though. It became the most successful talking board manufacturer of all time, selling millions of boards as well as other toys and games. Fuld had created a new industry with the Ouija board, which he claimed to have invented himself. He started the apocryphal tales of the naming of the board (using oui and ja) and claimed many of his successful sales plans came from the board itself.

His heirs maintained the company until 1966, when they sold out to Parker Brothers. This company, also known for their success with toys and especially board games, produced not only reproductions of the Fuld board but also made a deluxe wooden edition of the board for a time. They hold all of the patents and trademarks to the board today and they still produce it in large numbers. In spite of the fact that it is now sold in toy stores, it remains a near duplicate (albeit a more cheaply made one) of the Spiritualist board that was sold many years ago.

Lowtax, I'm always careful around Randi's stuff. He does talk a lot of sense, but he's somewhat fanatical, I fear that even if the paranormal was real and there was real evidence, he would never admit to it as a good scientist would.

you shouldn't play with it cause you're talking to random spirits. They may be messing with you but I would stop using it. IT'S NOT A TOY!

Hi... I strongly agree with Fr_chuck & Jesushelper76... STOP USING IT... get rid of it if possible and pray for protection... by using such things you are opening yourself, house to spirits good & bad ones which might hurt you & haunt the place and cause harm to others living in the same place where you had used it in.

    I agree.

Whether you, tabenda, are aware of it or not, it is you doing it!

The replies you get are determined by your experience and maturity. Ask direct questions and you get direct answers. Ask silly questions and you get silly answers. Leave it alone or learn how to play this 'Game' properly.

Nothing will happen. It's a game from Parker Brothers! It's a toy, not an outer-dimensional spirit warping time machine! Nothing bad will happen, so use it all you want.

Besides, even if evil spirits did attack you, you could sue Parker Brothers. But it's not bloody likely that that will happen.

Ouiji boards are moved by the person holding the magnifying glass thing. While you're thinking about possible ghost messages and your hands are twitching, what do you think will happen? It works so well with multiple people doing it because one person twitches a little bit, then the other responds to it, then the other one too. Eventually, everyone is moving with 'the spirit', the other people. Watch someone else use a Ouji board, you'll notice what I'm talking about.

I used one once, only once. I was around 15 and my board partner was someone I trusted. Neither of us knew the hostess's brother's middle name. The Ouija board spelled it out, even the variation in spelling that the brother used. My board partner and I never went near a Ouija board again.

I have already stated the above on this thread. I would like to add one more thing now, though. For me using a Ouija board worked. I don't know why, it just did. It may not be the board so much that is the problem, but rather, the intent of the people who use one. The board itself and also words, numbers as well as letters on the board may be harmless in and of themselves, but I think that when people get together for an intended purpose, and that would be in trying to be in contact with something unseen based upon their intention as such, and that would be to try and contact a force that is beyond our realm of understanding, that is when the words, numbers and letters may become useful to an unseen force in order to try to communicate to us.

If you are contacting an unseen force why then doesn't ouija board work when your blindfolded?

Because they don't work. Yet people refuse to believe it is a hoax. Try the blindfold test and you will most likely fail.

You should really be careful. There really is spiritual warfare. We may not always see it because most of us ignore it but when we use ouija boards, or try to conjure spirits there is much danger. Spirits are not just spirits they are evil. They will lie to you and trick you. Be warned. Pray for them to leave and believe it when you do, and they will be gone.

Almost 700 thousand kids go missing every year some without a trace maybe your on to something. I wonder if the police would notice the ouija board in the corner of the room if it was say only the cause for 1 in 30 of the missing children reports. That would still be 23 thousand ouija board related disappearances a year. Lets see at the height of the ouija board sales they were selling about 500 thousand a year divided by 23 thousand missing kids. We get the chance of being taken by the ouija board to be 1 in 22 depending on how much you use it that first year.

If ghost do haunt people with ouija boards, why would they leave if you through the board away? You and everyone else who believes in ouija boards contradict themselves.

You can't use a ouija board but you can participate in Halloween.

Ghosts are absolutely real, but you almost never hear, see, touch, taste, smell, or sense them in any way.

Ghosts are real but Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are not real.

It is just the bad stories you hear all he time about them , that caused me to get mine out of my house. And I have seen what you call ghost. I have them in my home. They don't bother me so I don't bother them. My Mothers house would be a great place for any non believer to stay one night and they will change their mind on ghost or what ever you want to call them. I feel sometimes when a person dies they can get trapped and unable to move on. For what ever reason the are here and some of us see them, feel them , but that is only a opition. But like I said my Mothers house would be a great place to study. All kind of things happen in that house. The house has been in the family for over 70 years and is over 110 years old and there is no one that hasn't seen something there that has spent the night. Every time I go . I hear and see things. Especially this one man in an army uniform. He never hurts or says anything. He just shows himself to everyone. My Dad didn't believe in so called Ghost until he seen him one night and now he believes as well. And he would be the one that would have never believed no matter how many times we told him. Until the night he seen him himself. I have photos of several in my home that I own. It is 107 years old. I often see a older lady and 2 older men. They will gofrom one room to another. They will close a door, open a mini blind. We all believe in what we want to and if you have to see it to believe it than stay at my Mothers home and when you leave YOU will believe
