I know what to do to balance sugar in people but not so sure what would be safe for a small pup. Give him a good healthy diet and watch his sugar.

The one thing that should be safe enough for him that balances sugar is green beans.
Maybe try feeding him a little green beans sometimes.

We have a diabetic cat. Diabetes one of the easiest dog/cat diseases to control. In fact, it doesn't seem to be as awful as human diabetes (one of my uncles had it and it took over his life). The vet will teach you everything you need to know. Pay attention! And don't worry! Your pup can still live an almost normal life if you do what you are shown.

I love you both so much... THANK YOU.

Baby girl had to be admitted to the hospital as she has Diabetic Ketoacidosis. Which is a critical form of diabetis, which left untreated could result in death. Her body was trying to make up for the lack of insulin and there are things in her urine that must be flushed clean and then we can begin treatment of her diabetis.

I'm just a tad upset at the doc who diagnosed her on Wed and told us not to come back until Friday as he would not be back until then.

She could have died by Friday!! But, actually I am counting it all as a blessing, because last night we got our normal Vet, he didn't even charged us, and told us she needs to be hospitalized. The hospital was only about 2 miles away.

So, baby girl, has her special bed with her, and one of her dollys.

What made me smile as we were leaving, and she was in the back, I heard her let out one little bark, which she never does. I turned to the entire staff, and said that is her, she wants something, and Nurse Johnathan went back to see her, and all she wanted was for him to pay attention to her.

I am praying she will be okay, but that mostly she is not suffering. The doc will be calling us between 8 and 9 this morn.

Thank you both so much, your responses mean the world to me!!

No, Wonder, Flossie, J - Thank you so much.

I truly mean that. I hope you don't think this is awful, but when we got the call, I wanted so desperately to hold her and see her, hubby was reltuctant. But we did it, and both hubby and I are so glad he did. She looked like a little princess at peace. The doctors are baffled and the nurses were crying so bad, but Kara never suffered a second. The docs said the whole night she was wagging her tail, wanting their attention and the next thing they new, within seconds, she just fell off to a peaceful sleep.

Bless all of you for being there and caring. Here is my baby at rest. It brought us some peace.

Bluerose, THANK YOU. You coming here lending that loving wise spirit, means the world to me, as well as ALL of you. Bless each of you.

The heartache and wretching feeling in both my husbands and my stomach is severe.
But I want all of you to know how much you have truly helped. We also realize that people suffer great hurts and pains everyday, and may they be blessed to have such caring and loving people surrounding them, like all of you.

I hope none of you mind - but to me and my husband, BOY, can we feel God's strength and prescense. When I love, I love strongly, and I can actually feel God right by our side.

The passing of our little one came as a HUGE shock. But here's the thing, she was just diagnosed with diabetis on Wed. and the vet told us to come back on Friday, to learn how to give the insuling 2x daily. But being the nerotic Mommy that I am, baby girl vomitted
2x on Thursday and off to the vet we ran. And it was then that they told us she has DKA diabeties, very serious, but with aggressive treatement at the hospital, she will come around, and we would then just be treating the diabetis.

ALL staff both at the Vets and Hospital were in complete shock, calling the house, with hearts so heavy, and lots of tears. They have no idea why she passed. The thought passed my mind, that maybe, the gave her too much insulin the second go around...

And then, I thought some more. Her life as a diabetic would change considerably. Shots 2x a day, special diet, NO treats, which was her favorite thing in the world, periodic hospitilziation in the beginning for 12 hours, to assess her situtation, and the likelihood, that we, her Mommy and Daddy, may make a mistake, and give too much insulin, or too little...

So, yes, Mommy and Daddy are shattered, but if she was spared from ever having to be denied anything, or to suffer in the slightest, we will take the heartache.

Bless our little angel, and bless all of you.

I am hoping that if this can help anyone now, or down the road, it would do our hearts good.

Our little baby, never barked. Maybe 5 x in her whole life. My mother-in-law always wanted to ask the doc if there was something wrong with that...

But the night we hospitilized Kara, she was in the back, and we were in the front filling out all the paper work... and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, was the cutest, sweetest
Ruff, just one time, from our baby girl, We will cherish that forever.

( naturally I sent the nurse back to check on her, as I told him she NEVER does that. He came back smiling, and said she just wanted his attention, and is once again, wagging her tail.

The last Ruff may have been our little baby's way, of saying "bye Mommy and Daddy, I love you".

Sorry - helps me to get it out.

P.S. Orphan - THANK YOU SO MUCH for your kind words and blessings. Please forgive me for just seeing your words now. BLESS YOU!! AND THANK YOU.

    Love,
    Allheart

As I've already told you my dear sweet Allheart, I'm so sorry to hear about Kara. I know how much you loved her, and how much she loved her dear momma! You are the most caring, and special person, and I know that Kara was so lucky to have a Mom like you!

Just think, with all of the things you taught her, she is in heaven teaching all the bad dogs to be good! ;)

I love you from the bottom of my heart sweetie, and I know how hard this has got to be on you. I will be around anytime you need me okay?

    Big big hug, and kisses!

    (remember... anytime!)
